@FlyingNunFarm I thought of you and your story yesterday as I was bleaching the shared equipment in my lab. Rest assured though that at my work we are using a mix of 1 part bleach to approximately 75 parts water. We do not want to melt any faces!!!

@CSAchook How have you been lately. We haven't seen you around for a while.
We're doing well. Sue has two more days of work and then headstart is shut down. But she will get paid for the shut down so that's good. She's supposed to figure out how to tele teach 3 year olds from her cell phone. My work is unaffected. I am well stocked so aside from cigs and booze, no need to shop. I don't have a surplus of TP, but if anyone in this tread needs something they can't otherwise get, PM me. The craziness at the stores has only just begun. It will get worse before it gets better. When I was in VA, I planned on supporting 11 people. So I do have some extra supplies.Hi Bob! Yes, I have been lurking but not chatting as much. I always love hearing from you all though!
I am doing alright, all things considered. DH and I are preparing to seriously tighten our belts during the pandemicDH is a restaurant chef. He has already had a massive cut to his hours and we expect that the restaurant may have to close altogether soon and remain closed until the current state of emergency is lifted. So that is kind of scary. BUT we are in better shape than many folks. We have savings we can rely on, a well stocked pantry, and my jobs offer much greater security. The university has promised to keep paying us even though all non-essential staff have been told to stay home until further notice. And my job at the state hasn't been effected except that we are doing more cleaning and being asked to self isolate in our individual offices as much as possible during the work day. It is a big building with a small staff so risks are very low there. It all feels pretty surreal honestly.
In better and chicken related news, my chicks should be shipping NEXT WEEK! I am so excited! I really miss having fluff butts. I will be getting banty cochins, banty brahmas, some mixed blue egg layers and a few RSL for my mother in law. There is gonna be a whole lot of cuteness in my home office pretty soon
And how are you Bob? Are you and your wife doing alright? I know you are pretty self sufficient folks but I do still worry about all my Squatcher friends. Will you planning to breed more birds this spring?
I am glad you and Sue are doing ok through all the madness.
@CSAchook .
I need to clean it up but this is my brooder....
It is 2'x4'x2'. I plan to use a heavy bag from shavings under the shavings inside it and 4-6" up the sides to hopefully contain the mess. I have an 18" square pan that I will cover with wire and put food and water on. The heat source will be a heat lamp. They will be inside the house just one to two weeks so I can keep a close eye on them. Then it is off to the big chicken coop using this same brooder. If they outgrow it before being off the heat I can section off my big coop some to give them room. Off heat they will use the broody house wile I build them their coop. At least that's the plan.
