Official Squatch Watchers

Yes! Finally somebody else thinks delawares are bossy! I'm not totally crazy......on this.:)
No, you aren’t crazy. My pullets bite me if I’m not quick enough with the treats. They are bullies to the other birds as well. They only started to learned their place after I returned the Dominiques to the flock and they schooled them right quick. I hope they mellow out some, or else, they will be dinner.

Omg! The delaware is the only one that will bite me when I'm digging around the nest box, i don't have to be in it just around it. That little dominique i put in the mix totally dethroned all the queen bees too even though she's tiny the delaware is still mean though just sneakier about it.

I’m ordering chicks or hatching eggs from http://deerrunfarmmd.com/

I have their Delawares and am pleased with their vigor and size (not so pleased with how bossy they are).

They breed their Marans to the French standard and the keep both black and blue copper varieties. Although I’m considering their Welsummers because they admit their Marans don’t lay very well. Their Amerucanas are goregous.

WHY RAE WHY????? Why would you lead me to a lovely site with beautiful chickens and hatching eggs available for purchase. I WANT CHICKIE BABIES!!!!! :hitBut I have no space and mean girl hens :hmm

I have 2 BCM and their temperament is good. I can pick them up but they prefer not to be. Handled regularly they do better. They are pretty even tempered with the other older girls. They did put the boys in their place. Only one of them lays eggs. I think the other got injured at some point or had a hormone surge/imbalance. The one that does lay is pretty regular. She lays a grade 4. 46510D73-E1C1-4418-B199-6F5EB42D997B.jpeg
That’s hers on the end.

I do get this sometimes too.... it’s not blood or meat. It’s pigment. Like she started the color process a little early then realized it and went in the right order...shell first. LOL

Cleaned out the downstairs cat pan, cut up a pumpkin and saved the seeds. Some of them were sprouting inside the pumpkin! Cooking up the pumpkin for my chickens.
Managed to find my glasses under the bed.
Going to Lynchburg to see the sleep doctor again tomorrow.
Man, all that digging today really made me tired. I have been fighting sleep since 7 pm.
