Good morning folks :frow

Love the babies :love

Glad you're back safe and sound

Morning Bob. :frow

Morning everyone. :frow

We have some weird as tater stuff in my hood. All this sitting at home is making people weird.
Soooo apparently the alley is the new best place to walk....which makes my dogs nuts.
Someone has decided that it is a good idea to pop off a few rounds every evening.....sounds like shotgun.
Kids zipping up and down the road on a go cart and moped all dadgum day. That also makes my dogs nuts.
People out walking are often ones that we see front porch sittin but never off for walks before.
My one neighbor (4 doors away) that has a cackle rivaling nails on a chalkboard is alive.....but quiet....yes she is SUPER DUPER loud normally.

It is weird out there folks!

Morning yall! Hope everyone is staying safe & healthy! ❤

Question, since I have been keeping my birds locked up they have those little lice on them... anyone have a natural and effective way to rid them? I dont want chemical, with the kids, and we eat the eggs and the males. I have the DE but wanted to know before I use it if they have actually had any luck?

:frow Good morning Hope, have a great day. Sorry about the lice, I've never dealt with it before but understand DE does little. Permethrin is the only organic solution that I've heard of. There are also supposed to be some homeoppathic remedies that I've read about but couldn't find them from a person I trust. Lots on google.

@rjohns39 Thanks! I havent had them really rather, but we have had to keep out chickens locked up due to a really big bobcat! Thanks for the input!

Inspect them thar birds at night. Right down to the skin. Mites are almost to small to see with the naked eye.
Run a paper towel under the roost as they are sleeping and look for smears.
Mites will make healthy birds sickly and stop laying as they drain their blood.

No need to mess around with DE. It does not work.

Use permethrin 10, full cleanout and spraying of the coops and birds then repeat in 7-10 days. Repeat again if you find any still alive every 7-10 days. It sucks but it needs done to prevent bird losses.

Permethrin is deadly for cats. So if you have pet ones that go outside be careful. On the other hand it may work on the bobcat. lol
Elector PSP is spinosad. There is no withdrawal time for eggs and I don't think for meat either. Its expensive as all hell but should last you forever. You can always ask around if others have it and are willing to sell a dose.
Sulfur has been working well for me. Thanks to Mo! I powdered the birds directly but it does dry their skin out something terrible. I now use it in their dust bath and those that actually dust bathe have been bug free. DE does work...sort of. It's not the instant fix of chemicals. It takes a little longer to cut the little bugs up. Sulphur dries them out.

My dust bath is a mix of stall dry, which has DE in, sulphur and wood ash. Then a few pine shavings. For some reason the birds seem to like those added. Or they add their own.

Personally I think DE is not effective.

The azela clump, where all rouge azela sprigs go.
One day it will be visible from space!
And the pond, this is the other reason no ducks too much pondy goodness next door in plain sight
