Idk why everyone has such a hard time with hardware cloth. I rarely get scratched by it unless it is already attached to something.I'm almost done with the coops! (For now) I got the mamma pen in the medium coop. So I can separate a momma a babies with their own run. Or use it to introduce birds. Even an isolation area for the injured. I still need to put HW cloth on the screen frames I made but my God do I HATE that stuff! I injure myself on it every time I use it. And I'm wondering if I have a zinc allergy. Cause my hands burn after I work with it if it gets wet. Even just dew from the grass. So weird.
I got the whole skirt on the small coop. Added a door and a ramp. I put grow outs in for a little while yesterday. Then I brought them in a night. They range from 2 weeks old and up... I grabbed the biggest chubsters and let them out.

I'd like to add little ridges to the ramp. And I put a block under it so it's not as steep. Much longer though and I'd trip over it stepping into the run.
They are out again today and I'm going to try and put all of them out there for tonight. My basement is stinky!
So to do list is screens for medium coop and ridges on small coop ramp. I'd also like to add screen to the doors of the small coop. They are old windows used as doors so the shavings fall out whenever I open them. I'll have to engineer something for that though. Needs to be secure but able to be opened from the outside....

Good morning. It's our 42nd anniversary today! So to celebrate, I am ordering Jubilee Orpington chicks....![]()

So I know I'm allergic to nickel. Have been my whole life. Early 20's I was allergy tested and cobalt was added to the list. So zinc being another wouldn't surprise me.Good (still) mornin Cappy, Nunny, Mo, Chicky, Parront and anyone I missed.
Congratulations Cappy!!!
Nunny, I am not fond of any stupid wire fence stuff. You may have a metal sensitivity if it's making your skin burn. That sucks bad!
I am taking a tiny break. The south siding is on and was a pain in the behind. I just have the East side to do yet. It will have the duck door, human door, vent and a window.
Then a painting party.
Fun fact....that oops paint I bought is the exact match for the shed, dog house, human house AND I found a forgotten can that is 3/4 full so will have enough to paint the duck house AND both chicken houses.
Tomorrow will be the fence for the run extension.
I thought about that... I need to get pictures of everything to show you guys. It would be nice to have full screens and be able to leave the doors open on hot days.Oh, for the shavings falling out the door I use a piece of plywood at least 6" tall attached to the inside of the door frame. Works well for me.
So you can sort of see how the flooring raised to above the bottom of the window.View attachment 2152140View attachment 2152142
Not only is the glass disgusting from shavings being pushed against it but they fall between that edge and the frame. So when I open it shavings fall out.
Nothing like having the paint you need!Good (still) mornin Cappy, Nunny, Mo, Chicky, Parront and anyone I missed.
