Official Squatch Watchers

We pimp Santa Claus, for no other reason than to keep his little arse in line during December.... PIC gets stir crazy around the holidays... :lau

Well it looks so nice! I make bags of Christmas prints and reuse them . The draw string pulls them shut . Hubby loves it. Stick the present in, slap on a tag, done. Wash and reuse the next year. Fabric is cheap after the holidays.

Do you have a pattern or something, for us dummies? Or do you make and sell them?!

I can wrap gifts. I have a knack for it... but I cannot condone all the friggen WASTE! It drives me nuts!

List of Smuvs Holiday Pet Peeves:

1. Cards on gifts and gift wrapping
2. People who take their BABIES out trick or treating (please people, we KNOW it's YOU who eats the candy)
3. Unbuckled belts after T-giving meals. Dude, you KNOW your pants were too tight... wear sweats for everything holy!
4. Valentines Day (just why.... yeesh)
5. Wedding Anniversary Gifts from your kids... (it's YOUR marriage, not your kids)
6. BLACK FRIDAY!!!

Ok, I'll sit back and take my whuppin now... g'head.
Oh and don't forget Sweetest Day. Apparently this is a geographical holiday. It's the 4th Saturday in Oct. It's exactly the same thing as Valentines Day! Just stupid!
No whuppins from me cuz I couldn't agree more

I got the whole Santa experience I'm glad i did, so much crap to deal with as an adult make me treasure the silly stuff i got as a kid. I never got much always chalked it up to me being rotten, never dawned on me we were poor. :lau

PIC gets to ask Santa for 2 gifts which, if he has had *good actions*, he will get. Anything else is just gravy... usually stuff I've noticed he *needs* throughout the year. Like, he has shown interest in rocks so we got him a rock tumbler last year. Or fun/educational stuff, like a gross science kit. This is so we don't promote wasteful gift giving. DH and I don't exchange gifts.

My parents didn't do Santa when we were kids. They told us about Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth fairy and told us they were pretend, like Big Bird. There were a couple of years that one or the other of us kids wanted to "pretend" Santa was real and my mom went all out and usually embarrassed us into saying "Mom, you're being silly".

I'm not going to do Santa for my kids either. I'm a Christian and someone once made the very good point to me that if a kid finds out you are lying about Santa, what are they going to think about God. Also, Santa is kind of a "works based" God and I want to teach my kids about grace.

As for keeping kids in line, my mom threatened to take our presents back to the store or donate them on a regular basis during the month of Dec.

We lean towards Buddhism here, so PIC knows Santa isn't a real person, but a sort of spiritual feeling that we should have all year long, not just at Xmas.

And we don't threaten to give back anything, just like we have never said he was GOOD or BAD... he has *good actions* and *bad actions*.

We base our spirituality and faith on The Golden Rule. I think that covers it all. :D

I was raised Catholic but we still believed in Santa and the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy and because we were raised Catholic we did St Nicholas Day where we left a pair of shoes out on the front porch and in the morning they were filled with candy. I was lucky and had a very leave it to Beaver childhood. I didn't realize how lucky I was til I got older and saw the reality of how some children grew up. I am very grateful for having such a great upbringing and wonderful parents

You're much nicer than my parents, they said Santa was real and they had his phone number and would tell him to not even come if i acted up. :)
