Official Squatch Watchers

Hi folks, been another busy day, made busier by my own stupidity... :barnie:oops:

PIC gets to ask Santa for 2 gifts which, if he has had *good actions*, he will get. Anything else is just gravy... usually stuff I've noticed he *needs* throughout the year. Like, he has shown interest in rocks so we got him a rock tumbler last year. Or fun/educational stuff, like a gross science kit. This is so we don't promote wasteful gift giving. DH and I don't exchange gifts.

Smuv, if he's interested in rocks, we need to get him stuff to do lapidary so he can make you jewelry... Funny story, I bought DW a $3K set of diamonds for our formal wedding.... She still prefers to wear the blue agate ear rings and necklace that I made for her.

I was raised Catholic but we still believed in Santa and the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy and because we were raised Catholic we did St Nicholas Day where we left a pair of shoes out on the front porch and in the morning they were filled with candy. I was lucky and had a very leave it to Beaver childhood. I didn't realize how lucky I was til I got older and saw the reality of how some children grew up. I am very grateful for having such a great upbringing and wonderful parents

When I was young, I used to get angry with Dad cause he wouldn't take me hunting with him. He'd be out all day and sometimes late into the night... It wasn't until years later that I realized he was gathering meat for the entire block because no one had any meat due to the current strike. The union would deliver 1 chicken, 5lbs of flour, 5lbs of sugar and 5lbs of beans along with a dozen eggs and occasionally some salt and pepper once a month for those on strike.

It would be a much better world if we all followed The Golden Rule

Amen. Though not always successful, and sometimes pushed to my limits I still try to treat all as I would like to be treated.

So many good points here !
My kids got God and Santa and Grace and a healthy respect for other peoples beliefs. They're turning out to be loving, gracious, compassionate, and empathetic Adults.

You have succeeded as a parent. Those are not easy qualities to teach especially in today's world.

Gave my mail lady her Christmas present today i think it suprised her lol! Gave her a rooster mug from TSC filled with candy and a little light up snowman and of course a card. She's a sweet lady. :)

It's hard to understand how much they appreciate it. Mom was the first modern day female letter carrier. She was surprised by any gift she received for "simply doing her job" and there are funny stories. One I'll share... She delivered chocolates from Denmark to one of her addresses. The lady was sooooo excited she opened the box and gave Mom six. As Mom popped them into her mouth (hadn't eaten breakfast), the lady freaked out and started speaking in German. Finally got it together and said stop! The lady managed to get our home number from Mom and called me to come collect her. Each chocolate had a shot of liquor in it and Mom's a teetotaler. I came out and finished Mom's route as she slept in the car.

So been busy today and here's what we produced... Would have been less work if I hadn't hosed up the chocolate.

Maybe i am a chick assasin! Actually my name is spelled wrong its supposed to be chickaasan but i fat fingerd it like many other things. My mail lady is awesome, she'll actually pull in and walk packages to the porch and she babies my eggs and worms. I'm lucky to have her, so she got candy the universal gift of appreciation. :)
@Suzi18 I absolutely agree. I just want to be happy, and whenever I make a wish for the PIC, it is always ALWAYS that he will be happy.

@Chickassan I WISH our mailman was nice... but he's a jackass. He is SO LAZY, he won't deliver stuff up to our home that needs to be (like a pink bag full of saplings), rather he leaves them at our mailbox... on a *main-ish* road with NO speed limit..... and easy to steal (though that would be a surprise if someone did). Mailman would rather shove a package into the mailbox, and then rubber band it shut... I'm like REALLY?!?!?

Also at chickassan... every time I read your name, I read it Chick Assassin.... PLUS, when I tag your name, I type in chickenass and THEN your name pops up!!! :lau

We pimp Santa Claus, for no other reason than to keep his little arse in line during December.... PIC gets stir crazy around the holidays... :lau

Do you have a pattern or something, for us dummies? Or do you make and sell them?!
I suppose i could make them and sell them once the weather gets nasty. Super easy to make, like little pillow cases with a casing around the edge for the draw strings. Sometimes i put bells on the end of the draw strings. You can use 2 squares and sew them together, with right sides together or fold in half inside out and sew the two sides up. If i get time i will make some with pictures for ya!

@pitbullmomma If you lurking... any thoughts on why my cat is suddenly mute? He purrs fine but when he openes his mouth no sound comes out.
No raspy rattling when he breathes. I can't see or feel anything in his throat. I have a coal furnace so the house is rather dry. Have the humidifier going. Do cats get sore throats?

[ummm..... yeahhh. pitbullmomma, not here. as y'all know. :) but no, they don't get sore throats. go see your vet if it doesn't resolve within a couple days. ok, bye, you didn't see me, never stepped foot in here, later. cindi who?!]

Of course they do. My cat has meowed less since she got spayed. Even when i suddenly pick her up and she would usually meow she just sort of wheezes. No idea why.

@rjohns39 when is your biography being released? You have amazing stories and I KNOW with all your talent, a book is in the works some where.

@Chickassan I always read is as Chick-a-son and say it that way real fast.

If I am up to it, I will make more cheese straws and give the maillady some, otherwise she will get a tin of hot chocolate.

My son prays for Christmas snow every night during supper blessing. Actually, there may be a slight chance of flurries, but anything can happen. AL has been shut down twice for unexpected snow!
