Started my day with massive clean up. Sick doggo in a path about 4 ft long through the kitchen. Back end sick.... and did I mention that my kitchen is the only room in the house with carpet.
I then went into the basement and found honey all over the floor. I have a decrystalizer, basically a hot cabinet to keep the honey flowing. Apparently the gate (where the honey comes out) on the bucket was leaking.

Xs 2 on your farmers market rant! Not really local here, they changed the rules to just about anywhere in AZ for the Prescott Farmers Market, it seems. Hard to have local food in the mountains, but there are close-by places that are being developed into subdivisions of houses, truly sad. I am building up a nice stock of chicken compost, next year I WILL (try to) have tomatoes, even if I have to build a greenhouse!

Maybe try a gigantic pot (can be homemade of wood) to keep the water from just running away. Oh and for AZ afternoon shade would be lovely.

My best produce comes from my raised boxes, barrel planters and homemade wood boxes.

Maybe try a gigantic pot (can be homemade of wood) to keep the water from just running away. Oh and for AZ afternoon shade would be lovely.

Some places here -- the places with the most sun -- are packed down so hard that I may just have to do that!. Build a nice box, add chicken compost and imported topsoil, and put a greenhouse over the whole works! All before I get one tomato. A little bit like eggs . . .

Super sorry about the tomatoes. Mine got blight so not good here either.

I haven't looked to close at the veggie patch just yet.....if I can find it through the weeds.
I know it is bad so I am running the sprinkler in hopes of softening the ground so I can pull those.
That is on the list for this evening and tomorrow morning. I suspect there may be beans in there......somewhere.

There are no reasonably priced tomatoes here to buy for canning. The farmers markets....if one can call them that....are all full of homemade soaps, over ripe veggies that cost twice what the grocery stores do and lots of craft crap. Seriously there will be 6-7 soap/craft booths for every veggie booth. Those veggies aren't even grown here by locals. They are trucked in from Mexico.

Way too many folks sell at the market that don't grow anything. I generally insist on seeing the plants and growing environment. I trust those I know. Not the others. I even caught the amish bringing in California tomatoes and claiming they're locally grown. All one needs to do is check the sugar content. A good locally grown tomato will be around 15% Sugar others will be around 5%.

So true. The best tomatoes in our local farmers mkt are so good that they do not make it out of the market! Cherry tomatoes that are from our local guy = fantastic!

Guess who has the total cholesterol levels of a lard barrel?
Yep, im walkin,talkin grease it is a thousand wonders I don't slide everywhere I go.
Iv'e never had a doctor wag his stinkin finger at me until today might have shook me if he wasn't at least 50lbs over "target" weight with a visible pack of camels in his dang pocket lol.
It is hereditary, im from a long line of lard barrels jeeze.
Anyhow nearly 4 hours shot, come home eat lunch, take a nap correction try to take a nap hear derpy chickens going bananas
....oh joy!
I go see what is coming to kill us all, least I can do.
Double dippity dog, must be my lucky day a super sick baby skunk draggin across the yard flanked on both sides by my bunch of smarty martys.
Glad they woke me up i'd hate to miss all im seeing can't even lol , might later
The only thing I can think of to diffuse the literal bomb ticking maybe 3 feet away?
A garbage can, I garbage canned a skunk and by some minor miracle nobody got sprayed.
In my victory celebration a wasp saw fit to sting me on the soft, flab of my inner arm.
I have had a pretty spectacular Tuesday.

I just got some sprinkles, it was nice cooled it off a good bit.

It stayed east of me and is kind of on-top of my daughter's place. @Chickassan how did you fare?

Yup just like eggs.....and plants can be as fickle as a hen.....the least little thing and no veggies.
