If I could find a cool dark place, I would be in it myself! I store Dylan's parrot kibble in the frig. It costs more than chick food, and it takes her a while to go through a 5 pound bag. I am seriously considering giving Dylan some layer pellets when the chickens get older, to see if she will eat them!It also helps if you store it in an air tight container in a cool dark place, tossing in a few O2 absorbents is even better.
I am re-thinking the O2 absorbers. Good feed has live cultures that need to breath. hmmmm. I will say that my nutritionist says good feed will last 6-9 months without issue. But he also recommends storing in an air tight container. I use 55 gallon drums.
and being vertically challenged I would have issues getting it out.
If I could not go down to the feed store, and get fresh feed when I need it, these guys would be chicken dinner pretty fast! You have much higher feed consumption than this tiny flock, I could understand you buying in bulk to get the best price. Just not worth it at my scale.
