I recall seeing a post looooong ago with wrapped birds. Crazy funny to see. I think I would crate/box them because evacs here are lasting weeks/months.
Any idea what stung the kiddo?

Good morning! First morning it has been in the 40's here and im about to freeze to death lol.
I spent 10 minutes waking Homer up, she sleeps in the midsection of the coop perched on a nestbox out of my reach when I pop the first door so I either have to call her and chuck seeds at her until she wakes up or poke her when I pop the other door.
The thing is if I choose door number two the adults run through the middle and poke her for me and they are a little rougher than I am.
I wish I slept as well as that girl lol!
Ugh, I hate bathroom repairs especially toilets they are so finicky!
Only advice I can give is don't do any of it in a cold house, get it nice and warm in there.

Its 3 am here... I swear I heard that damn septic alarm going off. Its right outside my bedroom. I woke and heard beeping...waited and heard it again. So I got up and trudged outside but no alarm. I'm really losing it. But after all that effort my brain is awake.
Been in the 50s in the day and low 40s at night. I had to turn the heat on. It wasn't getting sunny enough to warm the house in the day so it kept getting colder inside.
Speaking of the house I did find out I can refinance. My original mortgage company screwed up their estimated amount I would need in escrow by almost $1000. So my payment went up $145 a month. Right after they sent a letter telling me they sold the mortgage.I had emailed them asking how they possibly could have estimated so wrong and a month later they replied with "Thanks for inquiring. We sold your mortgage. Ask them." Not quite those words but that sums it up. I said it was like handing me ticking bomb and pushing me out a moving vehicle. "Heres a major problem of our making, Goodluck." I got the numbers back and even rolling in the cost of refinance and the back escrow from the mistake my payment will go down. Even from what it was! Interest is so low right now its about 1/2 what I got originally. (I about

In other house news I tore up my bathroom floor. The toilet started leaking into the basement. Not a lot but enough I noticed. This house was built like a bomb shelter I swear. On the floor joists they ran what look like 2 x 8 at a 45° angle. Then put subfloor over that. In the bathroom and kitchen at least. The rest if the house is hardwood. So I scraped up all the tile and found tar paper under it. Then when we cut out the bad section of subfloor there was more tar paper.

So I have a partially working toilet in the laundry room for a day. The tank is broke so its bucket flush only. Of course the valve won't shut quite all the way so it drips a little. Hence the catch jug. The back corner to the left by the vanity was the worst. It's built in so no removing it. Can't even figure out how its attached. But Dad and I found solid wood all around so put a fan on it to dry just in case. Got filler pieces cut and ready. Even have tar paper to put down.I also have flooring to put down but thats a new process to try. Thats the part that worries me. Not cutting holes in the floor or not having a toilet in the house.
Putting down new floor over the old. Going to try and get that thin plywood filler sheet (like 1/8" thick) to put over the whole floor so its smooth and even. The bathroom is so narrow I can float the flooring without glue. Its sheet vinyl. Thats my plan at least. You use literal double sided tape in the doorway and in front of the tub. Then lay it against the walls with a small gap you cover with baseboard. I can't use baseboard nailed to the walls cause ....well.... tile to the floor. But I saved the little silver strip they used and it had a chanel in that I can put the edge in. I hope. If not I guess I'm gluing.
Have other things going on too but I'm chatty at 3 am (now 4) so I'll stop here. Haven't heard the alarm again.

Mine do the same thing. Fight over who goes where. When I'm out there and they start up I yell "Be nice! You guys are so mean to each other."Got everybody in bed, had to scold the bigs a little they were taking the roost pecking a bit far especially considering how much roost there is.
Ive got two layers one high and one low that go all the way around the coop for 10 hens and Prince.
There is no reason anybody should be pecking, bunch of goobers.
I did get a good laugh a week or so ago. B*tch Pudding lives up to her name and she's molting.

Let us know how they work out. I tried usb lights with solar and a battery. Something was wrong with them... they wouldn't stay on one color. Sometimes slow transition from one to the next other times fast rave style techno party. Then they wouldn't turn off! I had to climb up and unplug them. Now the lights are up there with the solar converter but no panels outside and they birds knocked the battery down. It was a small car battery. Not sure how they managed it but luckily from a 10 foot drop it didn't land on anyone. Battery didn't survive the fall.

I did a couple of those quick survey "let's see if you qualify" things cause that's the only way they will tell you current rate and what they will charge. Even though I specifically said I don't want email news it doesn't stop them from constantly reminding me "my quote is waiting. Let's get started refinancing." I actually had to block quicken loans from calling me after I gave the person an earful. They were calling me 3 to 4 times a day. A DAY! I don't answers numbers I don't know cause if you need something you can leave a msg. They called about a week before finally leaving a msg saying who it was. The next day on the 4th call I had it. Poor person got their name out and "from..." before I cut them off. "I know! You have been calling 3 to 4 times a day. STOP calling me." And hung up and blocked the number.Good morning! I’m SO glad to hear the mortgage is worked out. I hate those escrow letters! We get them every year. They go one way or the other. We had the same thing with the first one, $1300 off. Turns out they didnt calculate a years worth of taxes, just 6 months. Our payment jumped $100/mo,
Gotta ask, how much did it cost to refinance? I’ve been thinking about it but dont have anything saved up due to hubs job change. He cut his pay in half!! I had us down to two years in paying off all debt sans house. Thats all I asked before he changed jobs, please wait until its paid. I’m SO mad and frustrated.

I got home from work one night and mindlessly turn the car off, grab the keys, and open the door. Ding ding ding ding.... wait what? Then I looked at the keys. Yep the blade was still in the ignition. I actually started laughing. Luckily enough was sticking out I could grab it but I can't really start the car again. Whoever thought those switchblade keys would hold up to daily use should be fired.
The miniscule amount a metal taking all that force just couldn't anymore. It cracked on both sides and the roll pin fell out. By some miracle I found the pin (my floor mats are dirty) and glued the blade in place again so I could start the car. When I first bought it I only had one key so had one made. It would only open the doors. I went to an actual key place. (Not Walmart or the hardware store) It was expensive as far as keys go but I figured I least couldn't lock my one set in the car. This time I went to the local Ace and for $2.55 got a working key that will start the car. They guy said he's seen 5 or so of those broken switchblade keys in the last week. Now that I know it will work I got a second one so I have an actual spare. I left the key fob so I can lock and unlock but I use the other key to start the car. When fobs first came out that's how they were anyway. LOL That's all the car drama I need for a while. I certainly don't want to have to replace the whole thing.

I am relieved you got a working key! Car troubles on top of mortgage and flooring would likely push me over the edge.
