The Cameron peak fire is not he one close to us. Calwood is Southwest I think.

This is info from pur county on the Cameron fire. The mandatory evacs are about 3-4 miles west of us with most of that being the city itself. I never in my life thought that a fire would reach through the canyon like this.

At least today is chilly and damp.
it's good they have shelters for the animals

I am really sad for a few friends up the canyon that had to evacuate. Dan may lose everything if they don't stop it really soon. He is safe along with his pet cats and girlfriend. That is what REALLY matters.

I wouldn't worry about it Mol
if it was being tracked or anything you'd have weirdos in your bird pen already and we certainly aren't snitches....what hawk?:caf
I looked on the website and nothing about dead raptors, unless in good shape for West Nile testing.
Hey it couldn't fly and I thought if it had keys it would leave :gig

LOL as much as I would like to permanently deter the bigger red tails, I wouldn't and this one is was not a problem child...as far as I know.., I was more wondering what it was.
I suppose the turkeys could have had a foot in it's demise if it was injured.
ETA I doubt it was the turkeys or another raptor, because the head and neck was fine.

I think something dropped it since it is mummified.
Maybe a ditch kill, not run over but hit a windshield or something.
That is the only way stuff hangs around long enough to jerky when it is hidden or too risky to grab.

Yeah that's why I was going to flip it over the highway fence

Hello folks,

We didn't go to church today because 3 out of 4 of us are still coughing. DH let me sleep in until 9, which was nice and I was able to take a nap from 2-4pm as well. I'm feeling mostly better now minus the cough, which is worse in the mornings and better after I've been up for a while. DH and I decided to do a "redbox and chill" date for my birthday yesterday since neither of us was feeling well and going out in public with a cough isn't recommended nowadays. We watched two kids movies we hadn't seen before, snuggled on the couch, and ate ice cream. It was nice to just spend time together without boys climbing all over us.

My grandson got stung on his head yesterday. 5 years old, and he didn't cry! Just said " my head hurts." I took him indoors and put ice on his head and gave him a popsicle. Tough kid
Sounds like my oldest. We were walking around our house talking to a guy about doing some grading and I hear my son saying in a quiet monotone "ow... ow... ow.... ow..." I look and he has one hand on the electric fence that is supposed to keep my neighbors cows on the hill (he has a few calves that like to bust out and crap all over my yard). I tell him to let go of the fence. He lets go, rubs his hand on his shirt, looks at me, and says in a calm voice, "It bites." :gig

If he starts crying after he falls, you know he's really been hurt.
