Mine are outside....but sleep and lay eggs in their house.

It is 5'x8' and a walk in style. They are good little quackers and put themselves to bed at night.

I have the rakes only and use them every day. One for scooping the dog poops.....which are quite large here.....you he other for fishing leaves out of the pool. I think mine are about 8 years old now.
I have pea gravel in my dog run and that rake lets the pea gravel stay in the kennel for the most part.

@Fishychix Your coop is cute! I like it.....not sure how to expand easily BUT I think the litter trays under the roost sounds like it could work well. They would be easier to hook and pull forward. A poop board might cut down their willingness to use the whole space......or they might do like mine did and leave eggs in the far back corners under it.

I love your duck house and that its walk in is even better!! Our duck were really good about going to bed at night also. We have a small rake that belonged to my grand daughter, but now its mine.

Is your house for both ducks and chickens ? Sorry I meant to ask before.

Nope, that is duckies only. Having a drake I won't risk injury to the chickens. I had ducks out in the country decades ago. The neighbors rooster got in their pen.....they drowned it. 😳
I actually have 3 flocks of chickens lol. Ducks in that house above and chickens in these....

This is my best picture of this coop. I have 8 young birds in it now.

This coop is split in half now and has 8 adult hens. We roofed the run this past spring and split it so ducks have the majority and chickens the rest.

I apparently have good taste in slippers.:)
:frow Good morning Chicky, have a great day
Good Sunday morning everybody :frow

I’m finding lots of little irks with my coop :(
I cant reach under their roost to clean, so I had to climb in. It’s only 4 ft tall by 3 ft wide, my back still hurts. I want to add more room, but dont know how to expand it. At least not without taking it apart and them not having a coop for the entirety of next summer.
:frow Good morning Fishy, have a great day ... hope the back feels better quickly
Maybe put in removable poop trays?
:frow Good morning Cappy, have a great day
Kitty litter trays is a great idea that @CapricornFarm had.
I was thinking that maybe trying it to see if it will work with you before going all in. I was even picturing those boot trays you can buy for cheap to see if the idea will work for your setup.

I do have the tray for a large dog crate. I guess I could cut an opening in the wall by their roost as a solid piece and add hinges. Then I can have the tray to slide out. How does that sound?

I wouldn't cut a hole.....thinking that it might compromise the strength of the structure.

I would buy a few cheap cat litter trays would be best to give it a try.

Good evening everyone!
Hermit crabs and lobsters chop down hard with those claws.
I have a funny story about hermit crabs. We used to get them every now and then from the shops at the boardwalk when we would go to Rehoboth Beach in the summer (Delaware). One time when we all had a crab my middle sister, who is hard headed and won't learn any free lessons, was messing with her hermit crab. It was tucked in its shell and she wanted it to come out and crawl around so she was poking at it. The poor thing was reaching its big claw out after her finger as she pulled it away. She thought it was funny. We kept warning her that it was going to bite her. "It's not going to get me." and when she looked away for a second the crab connected and got a good chunk of her finger. She starts flailing her hand around, dancing from foot to foot, and the crab just keeps hanging on. It took her about 30-45 seconds to get the crab off. The best part, she was wearing a tutu.

My mom swears if she had a cell phone we could have won the $100,000 prize on America's Funniest Videos. We all saw it coming. But that was back when cellphones barely worked, never mind being a decent camera.
