Sassy,
Does your run get winter sun (on days when its not raining)?

Since the leaves are molding I would be inclined to rake them out and compost them.

Pine straw is pine needles right? They should be less likely to mold. You may need to fluff them around unless your birds are big enough to scratch them around well.

I found someone to buy my Bantam Brahmas! Yipee! Cost of the chicks and half the shipping. Still a loss overall, but I gained knowledge and that is priceless. Right?
I just don’t know what to think about the “Crele” Orpington. Sale or keep? Probably should keep hearing @Suzi18 talk about her Bantam Cochins not laying. Plus I have Silkies. But I do have 2 Welsummers and 2 Easter Eggers.

Are Bantams more prone to go broody?

The leaves outside the run (on the ground) are moldy, so I don’t want to add them in the run. I do want to rake some material out of the run and freshen things up. I will need to investigate the pine needles, aka pine straw. They may be iffy. The run gets some sun, but it has been so cloudy and the rain came in sideways (5 inches sideways) so the run floor got soaked and stinky.

Today, has been a day. It was a nice day because I got to spend time with my family, but it was a mentally and emotionally exhausting day. After the power came back on, we still didn't have any gas. Which really stinks because it is our primary source of heat for our house and it is supposed to get down into the mid-teens tonight. Apparently, there is a low pressure valve for the gas just outside our house as well as down by the well. It took us several hours to figure that out and get the house warming up again. We enjoyed dinner up at my parents' house. The Milk Drinker bashed his head while I was trying to put him down for an exceedingly late nap. He is now really happy and chipper and we are tired and exhausted. Oh and the gas had gone off again while we were having dinner. At least my DH and FIL knew how to fix it this time. So the only thing we'll have to worry about is getting cold tonight if the gas goes out, it is shutting off down at the well and won't gas us. I really hope there won't be any more problems. I need to take a nap, but it is 7:30 so it is too late to do that. I really wish I didn't have work tomorrow.:hit
