Official Squatch Watchers

Mol, the yellow jackets around here are raiding fire ant nests and feeding them and their larvae to their nests.
It has totally changed how a yellow jacket sting behaves, wonderful right?
And yep sweat bees sting if they think they're going to get smushed.
I dodge them like the plague, they welp me up something fierce.
Hi all
Good to hear from you Anansi 😊

Still hot and humid, storm yesterday morning that wasn't predicted. Blew up and hit in an hour. Not bad here just some wind and 1/2 in rain.. predicted storms last night wasn't anything.

Yellow jacket sting is itchy, raised area the size of my palm. Never had an itchy one. Had a sweat bee up my shorts sting my hip yesterday when I bent over. Didn't know they stung. Not a big deal, just surprised it was a sweat bee.

YOUCH!! That is a big welt it raised!

Can you take Benadryl?

Had to have a chat with hubs this morning. Giving away my produce is gonna earn him a hungry winter. It's taken a lot of effort to get the garden rolling well. I didn't do that to feed others.

I have zucchini in the dehydrator with sea salt. I hope it turns out well.

What? He's feeding random people the veggies!
Might want to talk to him with a stick.;)

Yup. He was going to take my squash and zucchini to work this morning and asked about he corn harvest and giving some to so and so.

I am sure if I hadn't processed the green beans those would have been on his donation list. He at least knows better than to mess with the tomatoes.

I didn't plant much variety this year because I planned to put a lot up for winter.

I let him know that giving away what I have worked hard to grow devalues me and my efforts.

Well you're right it absolutely does.
And you're being super smart trying to squirrel some back given the uncertainty of what this winter could bring.
I've been trying to get my hubs into squirrel mode too, failing miserably but I'm trying.

Ummm he is supposed to take extras AFTER you have worn your self out processing. Maybe he wants you to pace yourself :gig

Between the prices going up and packages growing smaller and all the "Hey you know that produce you just ate from the store? Yeah we are recalling it for listeria." I prefer to give the squirrel thing a try.

Lol!!! I have one mode....go. My zucchini and squash have been hard won this year. I battled blossom end rot for weeks!

I had to come in. My hens have a mouse cornered and are making it scream. 😧🤮

I can't get to it to end it's torment.

Any ideas on how to tell hubs that I really don't want to try and cram the big tool box into the new shop?

Backstory.....
It is a used (and abused) tool box on a 4' long base. The wheels don't work and drawers are bent enough to resist opening and closing.
He gave me that box after I bought him a THIRD giant tool box. He also stuffed it with his "it is still sort of useful" tool discards.....that I won't ever need.

The new shop space is about 1/2 as big as the old shop. Every inch matters.

1. Tell him to fix it first and hope he never gets around to it.
2. Find someone that would appreciate it and suggest giving/sell to them.
3. just tell him the truth.
