Good morning everyone :frow Hope you have a wonderful day

Morning everyone.

I am hoping everyone is safe and warm.

We are at 2° now but still dropping for a few more hours. It's going to be a cold icy drive in to work today.
Good morning Henny :frow That's cold 🥶 stay safe and warm

So i came home from work yesterday to a horrible smell in the house. We thought we took care of it with the litterboxes. Well, it bugged me all night so i went to search for a “pile” left by one of the cats in the bedroom. Kiddo has several hampers in his room so i went in there to grab one. Found the smell. Absolute carnage. The heater in the 75 gal tank must have malfunctioned as the water was SO hot. We do have one survivor somehow. Poor little dude. I hope he makes it.
Now, what I dont get is that yesterday kiddo came home for the first time in a couple of weeks and definitely went into his room. Why did he not say anything. No question mark necessary. I am so absolutely floored.
Hubs had to dig a path to the compost pile and then chisel his way in to dispose of the poor things. Im sure the tank plants will benefit at least. I did a 90% water change just for the smell and filth.
Is there a thermometer with an alarm for fish tanks?

Good morning Fishy :frow Have a wonderful day.

On a good note Ive decided to finally dive into an herbalism course. I have practiced it withoug knowing I was since I was a kid. My mom did it too. I didnt know this was an actual thing until a few years ago and trying to weed out the wheat from the chaff has been irritating.
Commomwealthherbs.com / Commonwealth Holistic Herbalism has free lessons to try out to see if its for you. Super helpful! For the full course I may stick with them or go to the Chestnut School of Herbalism. I hate online classes but for obvious reasons as well as time and location it is the best fit for me.
Also, ze child left some Ben & Jerrys dairy free ice cream in the freezer.
The survivor seems to be doing well. He is swimming in his new home with little angel fish and taking frequent breaks 🥰. I am so glad I dcided to put them into a growout tank first. They were supposed to have been in that big tank. Oh! I also found a controller for the heaters that will shut them off if the temp get too high. You bet your bippy Im buying one for every tank.

So very sorry you lost so many fish Fishy. :hugs

I am glad you have a survivor and he's ok.

Super cold this morning. We were -15 on the drive to work.....which involved icy roads. Yup if I am gonna wreck -15 is NOT the time for it.

Sorry about your fish! I used to keep loaches over a decade ago. I had at least half a dozen 6” long Yo-yo loaches that were nice and fat. I decided to stop keeping fish after I had a tank heater malfunction and it killed all my angel loaches and hill stream loaches because they were at the lower end of the temp range for the loaches I kept. I only had my yo-yos, and one lone loach that I thought was one of my angels but on closer inspection was a different variety. I can’t remember what. It looked like an angel but had a higher temp range which is why it survived. The fish shop I sold them to was amazed at how big my yo-yos were and said they had one customer who would take them for sure.
