Official Squatch Watchers

Made a pretty, awesome-smelling batch of cranberry fig soap yesterday. This was the rough slice just done (swirled with red oxide, and the little seedy-looking things are cranberry seeds). Usually make this one every year around the holidays. :) That's as Christmasy as I get, lol!

Yes just messing with the hubby not liking the word.

I really should let my chickens out. I know they are needing water thawed.

You know i bet crock pots would do a great job keeping water warm for chickens. Buy used ones at Goodwill or garage sales.

That's my dilemma. My other coops are small but with a very large covered roof so I keep food and water in the run with a water heater so it doesn't freeze. I would probably have to keep food and water inside this coop I need a coop design that is small but big enough for food and water. These Seramas are tiny. So adorable
I used to use these for bantams, but without dividers and a bit taller. The sides could be covered with plywood on hinges for cold weather, that is what i did for my other bunny cage.

I have power in only one coop. We have been so warm here I had not bothered to dig the water deicer out.

Either way with no power in the second coop I would be lugging water out.

Its all good.

I bet that smells fantastic PBM!!

I have never made soap. Is it difficult?
It does, it smells up the whole house. :)

Making soap is difficult, yes. It is a LOT of math and science. If you don't know what you are doing, you can burn your eyes out, or your skin. You are working with lye. Your calculations have to be exact, you have to have a gram scale, you have to have the proper protective equipment.

When I make soap, my kitchen looks a bit like something out of Breaking Bad, lol!

I've been making my own soap for about 25+ years. I used to sell it. Belonged to a group called Michigan Soapmakers--we used to have yearly conventions/get togethers. Now, I just do it to keep my own stash going, and to give as the occasional gift. It's pretty time-consuming, even for a small 3 pound batch (my usual).

OK, so....I just ate a bunch of leftover fried taters and onions from yesterday, with Tabasco (yum).

And I gotta ask...what is this "taters taters taters" i keep hearing about? Smuvs, anyone? I just Googled it and looked on here, to no avail.

Please, someone, help a sister out!
You don't know taters
