Official Squatch Watchers

1. I have been through Airborne school, including the five jumps-In my mom's womb. She didn't realize she was preggo w/me and went to Airborne school after West Point
2. I do have over 40 pets, including all of the fish I have.
3. I was born in fort Campbell, where the post office is on the Kentucky side, but the hospital is on the Tenessee side, so #3 is the lie. @pitbullmomma, you win!!!

No Sassy it is not normal to have that many failure to thrive chicks.

Did they all come from the same source?
What feed are you using?
What is their heat source?

When I get littes I crush the chick feed so it is fine for the first week and also give wet feed twice a day for the first month then once a day the rest of their lives.

Some chicks cannot eat the chick feed at first because it is still to big.

You did mention when you got them that she was really small. She may be starting life with cards stacked against her.
All 3 came from different places
Flock raiser
Heat lamp

I have had 29 chicks and this will make 3 not do well. (Cry Baby did well for 8 weeks, but something was off from the beginning with her. Then Diane cried all the time from the beginning).

3 from 3 different places doesn't seem bad.
You are just lucky!

3 out of 29 is not as bad as I thought.
Still stinks though.

Can you wet some feed and see if she can eat it?

I have food wet with electrolytes and she is inside a heating pad on my lap. She has eaten some (and pooped) but she is so weak, I am afraid it is too late.

She said a heat lamp.
Just putting this out there..I am not saying you are but
sometimes people provide too much heat and it can be just as bad as not enough.

I don't think this it the problem though.
I'd bet it's problems from bad parent stock/just failure to thrive.

Nutri Drench is better than electrolytes.

:hugs The sad part of chicken raising is not all are strong enough to make it.

I am agreeing it is likely a genetic issue from parent stock.

Sometimes shipping stress takes a couple days to catch up to the too.

Sorry I missed the heat lamp part.
