  1. A coon killed 2 of my roosters I had set aside for slaughter the next day. It was my fault. I didn't secure them properly. 1 of them was only half eaten so I baited the trap with the remnants. Next day I had a coon in the trap. The coon went for a caged swimming lesson in our pond.

Roo scurried his girls to safety and drew the hawks attention away from them, then hid under a wheel barrel. I showed the hawk the door and they all went on their merry way. I like when the crows are around cause they'll chase off the hawks. But learned today that the chickens chase off the crows.:idunno

We normally have about a half dozen Red Tail, and a couple little Hawks around here, but as these guys are migrating from up north, I'm seeing 10-40 per day. Do owls migrate? Wondering what else that likes chicken might be passing buy on their way south.:oops:
