Well. I've got a story to tell. A sad one.

I'm working tonight, so instead of visiting my parents I dropped the Milk drinker off at their house so I can work in peace. As I was coming back from my parents' house, which is next door, I heard one on my roosters giving an alarm call, repeatedly. I looked with my headlamp, but didn't see anything. So I sent DH and my FIL out to take a look. I was really worried because one of our coops was damaged and the bottom wasn't completely secure. They went out and found an opossum gnawing on one of my Black Cochin/Dominique cockerels. The opossum had dragged the cockerel out from under the coop through the opening I was worried about. It took them about 15 min of chasing the critter back and forth, but they finally made sure that it wouldn't kill anymore chickens.

Tomorrow, I need to help my FIL with fixing up the coop to make it properly predator proof and do a census of the chickens.

I feel really bad about this, we intend to fix the coop over the weekend, but it was just too cold and messy. What really sucks is that we picked up the supplies to fix it today.

Is it just me or are the squatch watchers a bit cursed at the moment.
Oh No! That's horrible. Opossums are such hideous creatures. So sorry

Oh no!!!! How awful!!! That would be horrific to see. I am so sorry!

Oh No not another Squatch watcher predator :hit
when I was a kid we lost all the chickens to predators, mainly possums.

OK lol... You started it!

The new schedule will include hours of time for BYC each day, numerous beverage breaks, nap time, lunch break, chicken watching time, puppy play time, time so PIC gets his school stuff done, a second nap if needed, and of course new kitty play time!
:gig

I am NOT fit for any "in charge" sort of roll.
I’d like to fill out an application.
