Bat TATERS crazy!!!Vizslas are beautiful dogs
Tater mine stay out all day. When I go to open the door they stampede outChristmas eve it started snowing and only one cockerel was brave enough to go out in it... well his dad had something to do with getting the obnoxious teenager out of the house
Dad is 1/2 CX and the cold doesn't agree with him so he isn't chasing the son
getting to be a bit messy in that 8x8 hoop coop w/17 chickens in it
one good thing about below zero weather at least they are not getting all messed up.. the deep litter is not working to well in that coop w/too many birds.
The thanksgiving brood is in a hoop coop that gets more sun... their horizontal nipple water is brought out about 9 am and stays usable until 3:30, if the sun is out...they go to bed about 4 so that is working out...
Since Christmas only the turkeys have gone more than 3' from the coops doors...
I watched it last night it was a great movieNo pics right now. Christmas break was great! My mom thought this year was going to be the "transition year," but I ended getting more toys than anything else(I'm totally down with that.) My family and I saw the new star wars! It was awesome!
Good Morning! Happy New Year Ruby! Good to see you again.
We are currently at 9 chicks.... waiting on 6 more eggs to hatch possibly.
Can you put her in your garage with a heat lamp so she doesn't get to coldSo my Lilla is broody... how on earth can I break a broody when the temps aren’t even going to hit 30*? I take any eggs she’s sitting on. When I take her out of the nest box and put her on the floor she pancakes out and won’t move. I’m worried it’s to cold to put her in a crate on the floor of the coop and I don’t have a way to heat water in that instance anyway.
How long can she stay broody? She was laying eggs but hasn’t in a few days now. Not worried about not getting eggs but is it bad for her to stay broody?
What about alo@Rubysword ,
If you don't have bagbalm ( which is expensive) you can also use chapstickbrek off a little blob and warm it by rolling it between your fingers. -just don't use it on yourself or your dadafterwards!
I like carmex brand and it also comes in an ointment version in a little tiny tub which smells and feels a lot like bag balm.
I left the heatlamps on all day in the coop in case any chook was having trouble with the coldI opened the coop door to check on the young ones and found the Yeti basking under the lamp, not outside protecting the ladies. He acted like he was so busted!!! Asleep on the job!
We had sun today, so I don’t understand why the chicks huddle up in a shady corner and act miserable!?!?
I am out. Good night all!
Rjohns and Smurvs, if y’all know anyone within a reasonable distance from me who has black and white barred or mottled bantam cochins, let me know please.

BABIES!!!! I totally forgot you had babies on the wayyyyyyy. How many are there now? (I only went back about 5 pages)... Do you know what kinds they're supposed to be or are they surprises?
Are they snuggled in the bedroom with you smuvs?
Did the one pipped on the wrong end hatch?
