Official Squatch Watchers

If you want to hate someone cuz of weather, hate me, we're sitting at 41* right now. Lows are in the upper 30's for the next week and then some.
OK.....I hate you cuz of your weather too. Mother Nature is just wicked and cruel. Enough already!! Mother Nature can take her polar vortex and shove it up her tater! :rant

I am going to modify my vents even though they work OK. I find my peaked roof coop holds more MOISTure then my single slant coop.

In my big house the vents are on the long sides and not at the same height. The vents run the entire 14' both sides. I will add a vent to the south wall as high as possible near the peak. Not doing it today since my humidity is not bad. I just want more bad air out/good air in.

It's 14 right now. It's been snowing off and on where I am, but the air feels really dry. Everything is staticy. The snow is actually squeaking when you walk on it. It says the humidity is about 50 outside right now. My windows aren't frosted or anything so I don't think moisture is my problem, except with Odin's waddles, but he can't drink w/o sticking them in b/c they're so big. All the ladies are doing good, just Odin and his huge comb.. I'll get a pic of him later tonight. I'm going to get some of that green goo stuff to try on him. The bag balm melts so fast I don't think it's able to insulate him much.

FREAKING FROZEN TATERS!! You are COLD.
Odin certainly has more to deal with since he has big ole wattles and comb.

Busy h8en Smuv for her toasty temps! Oh wait.... Do I see rain in that forecast??
OK that means mud. Not h8en then!

I dare say!! Wanna trade with someone here??
Just not neighborly to hog all them nice degrees!

Apryl, FNF,

How cold are you guys! Taters!
We been down in the - just a couple times so far.

I would be keeping an eye on the relative humidity and comparing it to the in the coop humidity.
Nothing you can do if the outside humidity is high. If its say 50% outside the coop and 70% in the coop the ventilation may need adjusted, bedding changed that sort of thing.

If you have a slanted one direction roof adding holes on the low side and the high side causes more air to flow up and out taking the wet with it. It works much better then large vents on side walls directly across from each other.

Ya'll probably already knew that but I toss it out there in case other (lurkers) don't.

Sunday is supposed to hit 28* but then the humidity goes up too. The coop has a peaked roof with 2 large vents in the gable ends. It wasn’t originally a coop... When the roof got replaced small gaps showed up at the top of the short walls but they probably aren’t enough. If it were my building I’d go out with a drill bit and make holes to vent properly. But it’s not so for now my poor babies have no choice.
