On a brighter note...today is the first day in about two weeks the high will be above freezing. The last two days it was so cold, I had to bust up the water every 2 hours! I've been making the chooks warm oatmeal with cayenne, cinnamon, and cranberries every day, and they lap it up like dogs.

Yesterday the Blacks came out for most of the day, even though it was like a high of maybe 20. Out of the Originals and the Littles, only my one Silkie Phoebe Buffay was brave enough to wander outside.

My garage chickens have been doing fine. Still not sure what the weirdness was with Flower's purplish comb, but every day it looks redder with very minimal purple mottling, and she has been acting totally fine. When I get home today, I'm going to integrate them back into the flock. I can't wait to get home today. 32 degrees is gonna feel like a tatering heart wave!!!

Gonna play catch up now...:caf Love yas!

I really, really miss BabyLegs...:hit

Welcome, Misty! We're an irrelevant, inappropriate, empathetic band of weirdos who have mad love for the chickens and each other. We're the best people on the planet. And we're right here, and we're free.:wee

PBM, everything will be ok, because you're doing this on your terms, for your own well-being. If they end up in deep unpeeled taters, it's their own problem. You don't need to peel their taters anymore, they can do it themselves. PS, you don't give them the tater peeler back, either, they can get their own. :lau:hugs

Thank you Anansi!! I know this. It's just scary, is all.

Luckily, I have my hubby (and you guys). He has been very supportive through this, because he hates to see me crazy. I know I can find another job, or jobs. Actually I like it better when I do a little bit of this, a little bit of that. I'm looking into several things~

I cleaned the hell out of my living room yesterday, even though I hate cleaning and am a slob. (there was a lot of chicken detritus, lol, the Garagies were playing inside for a while, to the disgust of the hubs!) Lit a bunch of candles and sifted through the clutter, dusted, recycled. It felt like a cleansing/purge.

I will be so glad when this day is over. It was supposed to be Friday, but we had the snow day. :)

I'll let you guys know what happens when I get home later.:fl

Good morning guys! :caf Woke up before the alarm at 3:30, even though I took Ambien.

Today is the day I hand in my resignation! I'm nervous, but absolutely sure it is the right thing to do.

I hope I can sleep better after today. Just want to get this over with, so I can move on. Never quit a job before without having a backup, but I have to do this. Wish me strength!
Good luck this morning. You do what's right for you! We're all here backing you up.

Well said! It's just not worth getting yourself all tatered up over a stinking tater job.

:frow everyone! Hi misty, yes wee ate the bat taters crazy group, so don't be afraid to :smack for any reason. We are young and old, short and tall, toasty and frozen, own lots of chickens, a couple of chickens, or none at all, have cool coops, hodgepodge runs, or indoor hens. Some are here all day, some have lots to talk about, and some just like everything and tend to watch more than talk (me, for one), but we are all here for each other. We started using taters instead of other "choice" words simply because a DH hates the word and it tickled our funny bones. Squatch Watchers are a pretty cool bunch, and new members are always welcome. So come on in, sit a spell and :pop. Coffee is usually on cuz:caf we are addicting, and prolific posters. :celebrate
X2!

Good morning everybody.
Welcome to our little flock @MrsMistyReal :hugs. We call ourselves the Squatch watchers because we're a spinoff of another thread about a pair of feral chickens (one caught-one never to be seen again).
We're like the island of misfit toys is seems, sometimes a little broken but all with hearts of gold.
Our group is fun and super silly ( as taters) , but also sometimes we scream and wail and cry( often me) , and one of us is a high schooler even(who brings in fresh air, but is sick with the flu right now) - :frow@Rubysword, hope you wake up feeling better this morning- , but you couldn't find a nicer bunch of people to talk to.
I'm so sorry to hear about your DH. :hugs:hugs, two hugs. One for each of you.
Cancer is unfair and eats taters. We are like a little support group so if you need to bang your head on a wall and vent, you go right ahead. We got you, and we are good at keeping your confidence.
When he's feeling better we'll all talk you through your chicken journey. It's worth the wait. Sometimes challenging but often hilarious and always rewarding.
I'm not the OP here, @Smuvers Farm is, but until she wakes up I'll temporarily knight thee an official member of the Squatch Watchers ! :celebrate:lau
