Don't have more kids or don't buy the inlaws a house? It sounds like she has nice inlaws though.. mine hated me b/c I didn't let their son have an open marriage (but only open on his side)... I know, I'm a horrible wife.
They are nice, if exasperating at times. We would't really be buying the house down the lane "for them" but to 1) consolidate property on the lane within our family 2) to have more room in our house and 3) it's a nice piece of SE facing property that I would really like to turn into terraced gardens and orchards.

I'm sorry your in-laws, and apparently your husband (ex now right?) were taters.

My Red Production’s (who are all gone now) would never eat Oyster Shell or Grit. They were on Layena and would eat egg shells. Someone posted somewhere on BYC that eggshells were not enough of a calcium supplement. And I didn’t know Tums could be used for a calcium supplement. I think this is what are thinking about?

I am really bad to have a story in my mind, but it doesn’t usually get typed out correctly where people can follow.
I think drywall has lots of calcium and cuttlebone too. Eggshells are not pure calcium but are ok to use. I always dry and crush them so they don't look like eggs.

Morning all! Busy morning, but finally caught up. Got a follow up with Orthopedic Pain NP. Gonna see if she thinks a block may help settle down muscles around the lower back and neck. And back to Physical Therapy tomorrow. I need my own PT and should send hubby to school for it. Hahaha! Make him my personal tater man.

How are the chickies this morning SassyMouth?!?

That is wrong on so many levels in my very conservative mind! Did he want an open marriage?
I was thinking boy too b/c of the saddle feathers look pointy, but the older it gets it'll be more apparent. Steven was a girl until he was 19 weeks. Very gender fluid, but those saddle feathers gave him away.

I dated a guy who snored horribly and would stop breathing so I'd lay there listening to him snore then jostle him to start breathing again... he wondered why I'd sleep so late... b/c I was up all night w/ his snoring!

I mix layer pellets w/ flock raiser crumble... I'd do it the other way around, but I can't find flockraiser pellets (higher protein). They do have the feather fixer pellets, but it's sooooo expensive. Odin will only eat the pellets. I feel bad about giving him the extra calcium, bc I know it's not good for him.

Last night my daughter went to the coop w/o me and was standing in there for several minutes looking around to find Ash's egg (bantam).. couldn't find it. As we're standing there we hear a loud POP!... dug through the straw and found the egg... she had been standing on it the whole time. Ash spent all that time making that egg for nothing. She must have laid it on the floor and it got buried while they were all digging around.

We're supposedly at 33 right now. (I work in a windowless dungeon) and supposed to hit 48 beautiful degrees, so naturally they're forecasting rain for today. Of course now they're worried about things thawing too fast + rain and causing flooding. I'm just hoping some of the yard snow will melt so the chickens can come outside for a bit tomorrow.

Not thinking these will all work in place of taters but we grow and use turnips regularly here.

The chickens really like any tops we give them too. I cook tops that are not riddled by the flea beetles. They are spicy and a lot like collards.

I’m sorry your in laws were taters. Mine were too. I wish I could start over and score ones like the @rjohns39 family.
One of my friends was super lucky w/ the inlaw dept TWICE. Her first MIL was so nice that even after she divorced her son they still hung out together, went to dinner, etc. Her MIL was more upset about the divorce than her son was!
Then she remarried and her new inlaws are great too. Absolutely ridiculous & completely unfair.

I had one that seemed like she was having a laying issue. I tired to give her some tums and she ate 1 piece and that was it. Mine LOOOOOOVVVEEEE Egg shells though. IDK how they couldn't have enough calcium, it's pretty much what they are. Even if it doesn't I give them back to the girls anyway. They love them and they disappear much faster than the oyster shells, though I'm having trouble keeping the dish filled with those right now too... I saw this awesome rabbit feeder that I'm going to get when I have $$ to blow for their grit and shells.

That way I won't have to refill as often.
