Do you have black flies?

I would take -90 a million days in a row if it meant there was never another black fly.
I've never encountered them but I would assume they're about.

isn't that in Siberia? you live where you are sent I guess
Wikipedia says: Oymyakon is a rural locality in Oymyakonsky District of the Sakha Republic, Russia, located along the Indigirka River, 30 kilometers northwest of Tomtor on the Kolyma Highway. It is one of the coldest permanently inhabited locales on Earth.

Some years the temperature drops below 0 °C (32 °F) in late September and may remain below freezing until mid-May. In Oymyakon sometimes the average minimum temperature for January, February and December remains below −50 °C (−58 °F). Sometimes summer months can also be quite cold, but June and July are the only months where the temperature has never dropped below −10 °C (14 °F). Oymyakon and Verkhoyansk are the only two permanently inhabited places in the world that have recorded temperatures below −60.0 °C (−76 °F) for every day in January.[13][14]

Oymyakon has never recorded an above-freezing temperature between October 25 and March 17.[15]

IDK... even if they never had anything bad there ever and everything was 100% perfect, had everything you ever need and zero expenses, I don't think I could handle living there my entire life. Not sure I could even last a year there.

We weather days built in. From tornadoes to icy roads we get out. The schools try to do at least half days, because they counts for a full day. So, we get out early and do late starts. Not sure how many weather days we have built in the schedule.

-89. Would a car even start. Maybe that is why they are walking. Haha

The district in which I work (not for long, ha!) is so screwed up.

We had two snow days. They don't account for that. So, this week they took away Tuesday, which was a closed day for students and a PD (professional development) day for staff. Effectively screwing up people's 4 day weekend.

Then, yesterday, our superintendent sent a mass email telling us she is taking away President's Day, which was a day off for everybody! So now the school is open. Instead of building in snow days like every other district, or tacking them on at the end of the summer. Taterin' taterheads!

Cindi, eating her first green eggs ever. Green Derp eggs, to be exact.

When Russia sends you to Siberia, it's usually a one way ticket. You either survive or you die, which is usually better than staying where you were. There was/is probably a gulag in the area, but unless it's picked up on a satellite image, there's no way to tell. Even satellites aren't reliable when it comes to gulags.

Anyhow, kiddo not feeling good, so had to call dentist and leave message that she won't be there at 8am. I'm going to try to get some more sleep, my brain says it's still not today yet.

Be back later.

Re the green eggs....I swear the whites were a little greenish-colored. Freaked me out a little. Is that the usual?

Interesting. A few years ago our school turned a monday after easter which was supposed to be the last day of spring break into a school day, BUT if your kid didn't come to school it wasn't counted against them. Of course it was a major inconvenience for teacher, but we often have days where there's a bunch of subs b/c of training.

I have eggers that lay blue and green but the whites are still clear. I don't have an "olive egger" though, maybe they're different, but the color *should* be applied after the egg is finished. But did you notice that the INSIDE of the shell is green? My egger eggshells are blue/ green on the inside of the shell, but I was always told that all eggs are white and the color is applied after.

I'm of Nordic stock... I think I could handle it..... and I can guarantee I would have done something wrong to be *sent* there too... probably could draw you a map of the gulag too! :lau

Happy Hump Day Squatchy People! Currently watching Blue Planet and seed shopping. Pulled out my heirloom seeds from last year... MAN, I don't *need* any more seeds... except maybe some red beets and a couple others... NOT the $150 currently in my shopping cart.... damn! :(

LOL I thought you might be able to relate... Do you get random moose who visit you like they show online from time to time?
No. Healthy moose are quite shy and they're almost never seen, actually. There's been a few on the roads recently but they're not dangerous IF you do not hit them.

Deer are a tad friendlier, but they're actually less populous here than in slightly more southern locations because it's so cold that many die over winter.

Where are you? Canada?
