Ralphie refers to them as 'Minnesota cushion combs' and I agree with him. Sometimes they heal over so we'll you'd never guess they weren't born that way.

I thought of dubbing, but I'm a wussie and I think I'd rather get frostbite than my fingers chopped off, so I figure they probably do too. Unless of course the frozen parts thaw, in which case the poor bird's face blows up and he looks awful. :(

I had one that looked perfectly dubbed after frostbite and one now that is healing looking great. Most of my serama boys tips haven't fallen off yet. :hmm

The lady I got all my chickens from has these beautiful English Orpington s..........Suzi wants......:droolView attachment 1267628 View attachment 1267629

Gorgeous!

I have a few eggs incubating now from chocolate English orps, but the father is a blue mottled bantam cochin. I expect a very pretty mix.

She has Jubilee Orpington too which are drool worthy. Ameraucana, Cochin LF and Bantam, Svart Hona and Bluebars. Plus she usually has some other misc breeds here and there. I got a beautiful Porcelain D'uccle from her and a Japanese/COCHIN Bantam mix. Also have an Olive egger from her that lays gorgeous olive eggs with brown speckles. She's NPIP certified and her birds are healthy and beautiful

She might be close enough for a road trip for me. Please don't give me her address. :D

I remember looking at her page. She says all her Cochins lay white eggs. I thought they were supposed to be brown egg layers.

We need to remedy that!

You could take a hot bath and put a cold pack on the back of your neck for your headache.

I have quite a range of eggs colors from my BCs, ranging from dark pink/rosy to tan to almost-white. none lay totally white. My blue frizzle will sometimes have white speckles on a tan-ish shell

I do have a stiff neck, now that you mention it...
That could be from the fall, but that could be meningitis as well. You should see a doctor. If your dad can't be persuaded or you don't think you can convince him, call your mom and tell her what symptoms you are having. She would be able to convince him better.

I wonder how long I could get fertile eggs from the Orps when I get them from you. They sound like they would be fun to hatch. Would the chicks be bantams or normal sized?

The thing that's confusing me is that I haven't had a fever yesterday or today... I felt feverish, but the thermometer said I was a good 98.5
Without a fever, it is unlikely to be meningitis. Most likely sore muscles.

Do you have epsom salts you can put in your bath water? 2 cups of those in a tub REALLY help with soreness.

Agreed.....that's why I asked about the neck. Nothing too mess with Ruby. Please let your mom know about the headache and stiff neck
