I was going with the 10% of feed rule. Then running the numbers....

I was doing the math with Suzi’s numbers. 4 cups in 2 pans was 8 cups. 2-3 times a week. I multiplies 8x2.5=20. 20 cup divided 7 days is 2.857. Divide by 9 girls is 0.317. Roughly 1/3 of a cup.

At 2.5 cups 4 days a week. 10 cups by 7 days 1.428. Divided by 9 girls is 0.158.

I guess the question is how many cups of feed should each chicken get a day. Multiply that by number of chickens. Then 10% of that many cups.
Actually the 2-3 cups I give them is divided into the 2 pans. Its not 2-3 cups per pan.

You are a math whiz......:thumbsup

Let's say that 10 birds are only suppose to eat 10 cups of feed per day.
(I am doing my experiment today, which is to measure exact amounts but I feel very comfy saying that 1 cup is very close)
Those 10 birds should not have more than one cup of treats total per day.

I still think that 2 - 3 cups per day for your nine is way too much.
Maybe this girl is just working out her laying machine, maybe not.

They are all less than a year old except for 1. She is about a year and a half
I am going to say you are lucky you aren't having any others lay weird.
Hold..BRB...there is a thread on here I need to go find. I think you might want to read it.

Really I'm not. LOL I wasn't good at math in school. But years of having to figure out work hours by the 15 min... then try to get a monthly estimate of what I make has forced me to get better.

So 2.5 x 5 days a week. 12.5 a week. Divide by 7 days a week. Averages to 1.76 a day. Divided by 9 girls is 0.2, almost 1/4 cup cup.
