Oh no way, man! I am a scientist. This is like the world's greatest science experiment ever. :) There's no way I need--or have room for--that many chicks! I was only counting on getting a dozen originally but WVD was so generous she doubled that! I told hubby "we'll be lucky if even one or two hatch b/c Serama eggs are notoriously hard to hatch" (plus it was my first hatch) so I seriously hope they don't all hatch! Out of the ones I candled and put back, there were maybe 4 questionable ones. So that's maybe 11 that are going strong, so far!

I'm already calling my chicken friends to see about giving some away if I have a decent hatch. Really, I only wanted like maybe 3 Seramas. WVD's frizzled BCs are seriously cute, though!

Not really. I'm pro-choice, so it would be hypocritical of me to get all weepy over a chicken embryo. I did feel bad, but it was nothing like when I had to euthanize my little Mini Fleuf, which was horrible. I'm just not going to 86 any "maybes" from now on, unless I'm sure they are dead. Or if they smell.

Ha, I made "hot toddies" for me and DH last night. My mom used to make them when I was sick when I was a kid (an older kid, ha. It's so funny reading that as I type it, but those were different times. Back then people used to smoke on airplanes and hospitals).

It is tea (for me I use herb tea with chamomile, for him Lipton) with honey, lemon, and a hefty shot of rum. I think my mom used to use whiskey, but I hate whiskey. It really feels good on a sore throat!

I initially set 8 mixed flock eggs with 5 Cornish. None of the Cornish came to fruition and I have 6 mixed flock eggs left. Today is day 21 for those 6. They are in lockdown now. I only have hope for 4 of those.

I had 4 Cornish eggs that would be on day 14 today but there was NADA in the shells. So I chucked them.

I have 5 Cornish eggs that are on day 7 that aren't showing any signs of life, but I'll give them until next week.

Yesterday, I set 4 more Cornish eggs and 6 mixed flock eggs. If any of my Cornish do hatch, they need buddies that are within a week or two of them. So I decided to hatch mixed fillers and have fun figuring out what they are.

So right now I have.... 21 eggs in the incubators.
 
Pffft....waiting on my Hobo egg. I so want to see those chickens get romantically busy. They're holding me up! I'm only incubating four eggs, so I don't have wiggle room for duds. I could put more eggs in but what if they've done it and I didn't see or I jinx myself and get a load of doodles. I've got terrible luck and I know better than to get greedy.:lau
