Official Squatch Watchers

I know if I don't do it they will be up at the neighbor's eating everything. I found out the hard way last year.;) I could do fourths, I will measure and see if I need more than 200 if I do then fourths it shall be. @rjohns39, get you some! That netting is a plant saver.:)
I bought a 7ft roll and cut it in 4ths. It works pretty well for chick-proofing the fence.

Oh my goodness the little footsie :love So cute! Glad Fergie is ok!!!!

Thank you! If she's a girl I will name her Fergie! She's motoring around, she tried to help out the last one that hatched. Now she's sleeping with her head on that one. You guys ever have a hatchling that is unable to stand? It's only been a couple hours so I'm just gonna give it time.

When I hatched Chicken Surprise in Dec, I had to help her out of the shell. It took her a good 24 hours to be able to walk, and not well. It took her about a week before I stopped finding her on her turtled on her back periodically. She didn't have the strength or reflexes to flip herself back over when she fell, like the other chicks. But she is fine now.

My quail arrived at the po. 17 dead, one live bird. I have named her Solo. View attachment 1299554
Going to the swap to try and find her some friends. Bbl.

SO sorry, but you called it!

It depends if you are selling them across state lines.
But generally speaking yes the fertilized eggs in 98% of the states are required to come from a PT tested flock.
Doesn't necessarily mean you HAVE to be NPIP but being NPIP makes the process easier.

Most people just ship eggs regardless.
They just haven't been caught yet.

I *knew* it was you who was the NPIP person... but you'd had the NPIP siggie for such a long time and when I didn't see it I thought maybe I was wrong... :barnie

Girl, I had one that couldn't walk for three days. It took a huge crap and it cured it. Chicks are weird.

Good PrEvening (via Sheldon Cooper) Pre Evening!

Been up and outside ALL day. Decided to work IN the run, since we're supposed to have rain coming. Raked the hay all over. Removed the dust bath, as it had pretty much *cemented* itself up, put a cable spool in the corner. Took out the sawhorse roost. Built a roost out of a slated foot board from a twin bed and nailed legs to it. Also, drug a HUGE branch inside. These chickies are SO happy!

Built 2 of the 4 raised beds we have the wood for. Planted white beets, golden beets and red beets into one. Lettuces, dragon stir fry mix, spinach, kale and purple snow peas in the other. All of this joins our nicely growing strawberry plants (26). YIPPEE.

Edit to Add: ALSO had to hit Kroger, as we bought corned beef last week yet woke up this morning and had FORGOTTEN today was St Paddy's Day!!! Bad Irish Smuvvie!! HAd to grab some cabbage and little taters.

Cool, thanks Rae. This was a helpout too. She's a frizzled bantam cochin from one of the really cold eggs I took from underneath my broody. I'm not getting freaked or anything, I'll just give her TLc and time. :)

(Edited for terrible typing and a keyboard that drops letters.)

Keep an eye on her once she is up and walking. Turtling on their back can suffocate them eventually. I would check on Chicken Surprise once every hour or so during the day and once before I went to bed at night. It only happened when she was moving around a lot and lost her footing.
