Official Squatch Watchers

So, I’ve come to a heart wrenching decision, if I want to accomplish my chicken keeping goals, I really need to drastically SIMPLIFY my flock. My goals: meat, eggs, and broodies.

I am feeling somewhat sick about the whole thing, but I’m probably selling most of my buffs, all the Delawares, and some of my mutt birds. I may eventually get rid of my Cochins and New Hampshires too. I don’t know yet. I’m staring down the number 100 this week and realizing I’ve dug a pretty big hole for myself. I need to get my chicken math under control.

:hugsIt is hard to choose.

It will make things much easier in the long run though.
Your Cochin are all LF right?

So far my only broody this year is my BA. In the past my most reliable has been my black bantam Cochin. Not sure that helps at all.

My LF Cochin's are not very productive.

I have one LF rooster, 18 LF chicks (that I can probably sex by now), and 15 BC/CO chicks and 1 BC chick. I have 4 Cochin/Dominique pullets too.

Good morning everyone

Folks I need your thoughts.... I'm trying to market my eggs and meat.

What do you think?

We are Johnson squared family farm, new to smith county. We raise heritage breeds of chickens, ducks, and turkeys that are on the livestock conservancy watch, threatened or critical lists. We sell eggs and meat from our heritage stock and are willing to take custom orders for BBW turkeys or CX chickens. All are raised on a non-gmo ration and are allowed to express themselves as God intended. My birds have a pasture surrounded by electric fence to keep the furry critters away and shelters to sleep in at night. But they have free run of the forest and pastures during the day.

How would you edit the above?
Capitalize the following: Johnson Squared Family Farm & Smith County
Maybe put - non-gmo ration feed
You might consider putting your state too since posts get shared and will be visible to people outside your area.. it will help avoid the 'Where are you located?' responses.
ETA: Good luck! I hope it helps you grow your business.

Are you planning on breeding them true, using them in your Toads, or both?
Both
but like you I will have close to a hundred birds, since i am also hatching turkeys... may have to think about this. But those white cornish are hard to find and not sure how long those toads will live... already lost one roo that was 1/2 cx (still have 2) and lost one f2 hen (have around 14 white and 6 barred hens and 1 roo left..)
