It's day 17, no pips on the quail yet. Currently, the setup is:
Quail who are in lockdown in the steady 99.5* bator
Goose egg(who still has wonderful veins and no blood ring) in the haywire bator so I can turn it. This bator is now staying mostly steady at 99.5*, though it reads 95.5. Gah! As soon as the quail hatch is complete, I'll be moving the goose egg to the nice bator.

Quick question: Would peat moss make a good substrate for the button quail 10 gallon tank brooder? Also, would a heat mat for them to lie down on or a heat lamp be better?
 
Many of the pro's use Peat in their brooders instead of shavings. Heard lots of pros, few cons, but never tried it myself.

Just a reminder your goose will need 28 days, a lower humidity until lock down and slightly warmer incubator. I will incubate ducks and turkeys at 40% and 99.8* as they need a bigger air cell, so I'm assuming it's the same for geese. @WVduckchick will know.

My method of night weaning recommends I start off by letting him nurse for a couple of minutes, but putting him down before he falls completely asleep. I keep this up for 3 nights and then move to just cuddling without feeding when he wakes up. 3 nights after that, I move to just patting and reassuring him that I'm there, but don't cuddle or feed him. Last night was the first night of the training. He woke up around midnight, I fed him for a few minutes and said "All done, go lay down." and he laid down between me and DH and went right to sleep and didn't wake up until 6:30 this morning. That was the longest stretch of sleep I've had in a good while. Hopefully the rest of training goes just as well.

Here is a video of the hobbled chick. I just gave it some food, which it didn't show any interest in and I'm going to be going out every hour or so to give it a drink. I'm not sure it is coordinated enough to drink or eat on its own. We'll see how it goes.

Best wishes on that weaning program. It’s sounds feasible.
I think if my favorite aunt haven’t died (had to fly to her funeral by myself, and was gone for three days)
I’d NEVER have gotten the last of my four weaned!
Plus she was an early talker and by two she was very articulate which made it awkward in public.
“Please mama, can I hab a lil’ bit of your boobies? ”
Definitely made upright people’s heads turn.....

Geese is one I've never hatched. :D
i was thinking a tad cooler incubation worked better for geese, but I'm not positive. I do know there is a good thread specifically on incubating geese. I'd recommend finding it.

This is why I've always used the term "Milkies". He doesn't say the word yet but does the baby sign language for it. My cousin warned me about using boob or boobies. She said she thought it was really cute when he son asked for booby at home, but it was really embarrassing when he started yelling for "BOOBIES!!!!!!!" in the grocery store.

I did. I don't have an actual candler, and need two of our flashlights just to see the goose egg clearly, so couldn't see anything. The goose egg is now in lower humidity. It had a few days with high. Side note-I just saw it MOVE!!!! (In the shell.)
