Official Squatch Watchers

Hello all,

Things are still going well here. I decided to take a BYC break yesterday.

I spent 2.5 hours planting in the garden this morning. We planted Cukes, pole beans, peppers and tomatoes. We planted them along the fence so we can tie or train them up to it. My dad and FIL finished putting in the fence and the gate on our side of the house. All that is left is the gates close to their house. We are also going to stick PVC on top of the T posts so we can tie the top of the fence to it and run electric across he top. This is also going to be our winter chicken run so we are building it stronger than we would need to do for a garden.

I've seen this before. It's funny.

Oh interesting story, my sister tagged me in a FB version of the chicken shaming and I commented that the roosters who terrorize tiny humans would have been sent to freezer camp. One of my sister's friends comments that it is apparently a thing in Puerto Rico to get the nastiest rooster you can find (apparently there is a breed of white chicken that is particularly nasty) and use them as guard animals. He said he got one for his grandfather, but his grandfather had to kill it because it nearly did in his dog. Wouldn't work around here. We are mainly concerned about nighttime predators, not people.

Derps will attack, harass, pretty much anything but they don't do snakes? Had to relocate a big black snake from inside the coop while they just watched...ok, ok, Lulu broody screeched at it but really? Hubs sitting on his can inside while i'm snake wrangling, at least it didn't poop on me.:)

Hope, I don't miss the horse flies one bit. Haven't seen one since 1990, and love it. They didn't have them in Germany and Hawaii, and they don't have them in western Washington State. You should come out here for a vacation, we don't get up past 85 until July and August, and we get down in the teens for maybe 8 days in the winter. Otherwise, it's nice and mild. Yesterday and today are a heat wave, with temps in the 80s, then were back to 60s and 70s. No hurricanes or tornados, only volcanoes and an overdue shake, rattle and roll to really worry about. Scenery is gorgeous, we're only an hour from the mountains and about 2 hours from the ocean, rainforest and another set of mountains. If you want dry, arid and desert, that's about 2.5 hours in the other direction over the mountains on the east side of the state. We're 20 minutes from an ocean inlet, so we still have saltwater beaches if you miss the smell of the ocean. And then there's the multiple lakes within easy driving distance. And there is lots of green on the west side, especially once you get out of the big city, and its green all year. This year we should be good with our water aquifers as well, so no water restrictions predicted, had a good snowpack and plenty of rain.

Ok, I'm done promoting the state, but y'all should really look up the website, just Google Washington State. I promise several of you will be jealous. (I'm such a tater :lau )

:hugs:hugs:hugs:love:love:love

Oh man I am soooooo down!!
Make room our big family is a coming!!!

So, the TSC Farmers Market didn't really *do* anything but reaffirm my thoughts that the TSC here isn't going to go out of their way to promote anything... simply a catch as catch can situation.

I really thought there would be more people to show up, but when Cub Cadets are on sale the weekend of Mothers Day, the place was pretty much deserted. Only 4 *vendors* showed up, and 2 left before it was even noon. Didn't sell but 5 doz eggs and a few containers of boiled peanuts... just not enough customers showing up at the TSC in the first place.

But HARK, my dear friends, I have not given up! Can't expect to become a zillionaire my first time out. I had readied myself for disappointment... so I am not upset or depressed or anything. I keep going forward!

And @pitbullmomma , what's wrong with the Chicken Attack video?! I thought it was awesome and hilarious!!! :gig Just HAD to share... especially with the yodeling Asian dude. Yodeling. Asian. Let that sink it......

Happy Monday all!!! Preparing for STDH to come in from training on Wednesday.
Dude. I was married to an Asian guy for, like 10 years.

And never once did I see him yodel (or fly like a ninja chicken). Just sayin'.

Seriously, that was the BOMB!!!

Cindi,

posting illegally from work, yeeeahhh! ;)
