Official Squatch Watchers

Please, nobody think i'm terrible or just being picky or even giving into the cuteness of baby roosters. I just won't abide a butthole, even if I like the said butthole. Especially if there is no reason, he isn't hungry, sick or cramped he has it daaang good for a rooster. Hubert the one before him tried to mate chicks so I sent him on vacation, i only had to see it one time then GONE. He had it just as good, i get they are what they are but i'm not putting up with malarkey out of a goober that dosen't lay eggs. Not many chances to "cock" up around here. Rules also apply to dogs, cats and husbands.:lau

Certain behaviors should never be tolerated.

You are looking out for the flock by not accepting that "the cute one" does this or that that gets others gone.

My little ladies come first, they are the only reason I keep a rooster. They love having one when the dingus acts right, and without one its like the thunderdome out there. All i can say is if he dosen't appreciate his situation one of those young fellas certainly will. I'm not mucking around with that seperate, dominate mess either. I just don't have the patience and neither do the girls. Bad thing is he's still being normal in every other way, just brutal on the not intrested. He continued after the squat, that really kicked the chair out.

He might work it out with a little more force, but volume won't go up much. :D
I have a few that have always sounded like they are being strangled.

They are soooo pretty. I'm glad you love them as much as I do. Usually males that grow up together, or young ones that grow up in a pen with an existing rooster get along pretty well. I had to pull 2 from a pen though that got along too well and would double-team the girls. Not cool.

Thank you! I think they are beautiful too, but of course I am prejudiced cuz they're mine. I am totally down with that pitiful little crow! My next door neighbor and I were dying laughing when he did his first crow. I am lucky that I have great neighbors who actually like the sound of a rooster crowing (they used to have chickens). Needless to say, they get lots of eggs. :)

I'm thinking the two boys will continue to be buddies. Grumpy is much smaller and submissive, so I'm hoping he won't be trying to challenge Negan too much. He seems (so far) to be cool with not being the alpha male. We'll see!

Every now and then mine go all thunderdome too.

I miss having a rooster around. Of course my best rooster was a bantam Cochin. Sweet as could be to both humans and his ladies.

All these beautiful babies make me want to give some to my broody monsters.

They are all very happy in their new coop. A silkied Rooster named Thoreau, a frizzle name ZsaZsa and a smooth named Monique. The little Wyandotte is Vivienne.

Suzi, they are SO BEAUTIFUL!!! Where did you get them? Thoreau is a gorgeous, proud little soldier boy. That chest! Just gorgeous...I would love a play date, lol! Your coop is really cute. Did you buy it or make it? Love the butterfly bush and flowers, too!
I wish it would freaking stop raining already so I could start landscaping my coop/run a bit...

Gosh they are cute! :love
If we ever move again I think I’d like the opportunity to have a boy or two, for the experience. :old
On the other hand... maybe ill keep things uncomplicated and I’ll just live vicariously through all my squatchers friends. :wee

Thanks, Stace! I never thought I would have boys, but now I have three and I love them.

Luckily, I live in a neighborhood with good people and plenty of chickens. :)

It's crazy, but backyard chickens seem to be the new black! Everywhere I go now, I see them. Yesterday we were at my nephew's first BD party at my sister's parents-in-law, and I went on their 2nd-floor deck and what did I see--a giant chicken run and some chooks strolling around in their next door neighbor's yard! I swear, they are everywhere now!!!

Hi squatchers! How is everyone?
PBM LOVE the pictures of your tiny chickens.
Suzi so glad you got your flock of snowy minis. So sweet looking.

Anyone have plans for Memorial Day?
Just bought some stuff for my run expansion project. Looks like I will be working on that in whatever free time I get.

Pssstt 21 hens I am starting to think we might be the sanest ones here. Humidity? Um no thank you. Desert dweller for life!
