Official Squatch Watchers

Hubby helped a lot today, he put on the coop door and the roof! Another couple days and it will be ready for turkeys! 20180708_174540.jpg

So... I didn't sell 11 chickens today. The guy messaged me at Noon and said he would let me know when he dropped his son off so I would have an idea of when he would get here. I haven't heard a word from him since.

So, I had a lady message me earlier today about some chickens. She wants 2 Buffs, 2 New Hampshires, 2 of my Mixed pullets, and 1 of my Bantam Cochin/Choc Orp Cockerels.

So, I pulled 2 of the Buffs I promised to to the no-show aside for the night (I put them in a crate inside a secure coop I have some chicks in) and I'm going to catch the other 4 birds in the morning. She said she will be here around noon. I hope she shows.

How often are bird sales no-shows?

It really varies. I had one guy that had already bought a bunch of birds and wanted more. Said he would come Sunday, cause that was his only day off. I ended up waiting almost 2 weeks, he never did call back. Ruins it for everyone else.

My not so little Milk Drinker said his first sentence today.

He picked up my tea mug and said "Dis is mommy cold tea!"

He calls my mug "cold tea" because when I hand it to my DH to refill, that is what I ask for.
Awesome!

Rae,
I always tell the people that I wont hold birds more than 4 hours.
A few years ago I was delivering 3 birds to one address and 4 to another. It was 100+ outside so I had them in crates in my car. The first house I went to no one was home. It was an arranged time and day! I called her and they had just bought tickets to a movie then planned to have dinner. She had the nerve to ask me to wait for 4+ hours. Guess who did NOT get birds from me.
The second lady was at the meeting spot waiting. She also purchased the other birds.

It is such a crap shoot with people. :he

Well, I don't feel bad about selling two of the Buffs he wanted to another party, especially when he dropped out of contact. I think I'll come up with a holding policy. You have until dusk on the day that you say you are going to get the birds to pick them up (especially if you don't contact me). If you don't, I can't guarantee that they will still be there when you call back.
