Chad will be housed separate from the chickens. He is more grey and will look like your common pigeon that hangs out around Walmart, so nothing fancy. He had no creepy crawlies that were can see, so the borax bath is a precaution, and we plan on getting him vaccinated. DD#4 wishes to keep him, so he will have an 8 sq. foot pen and out time, but he won't be out at the same time as the chickens for safety reasons. I refuse to house different species together for the simple reason that they can do damage to each other, either intentionally or accidentally. Everyone except the dogs and cat have their own contained, safe living area. Chad is still a little thin as far as his breast muscles are concerned, but that should change as those muscles develop. He is definitely eating and drinking well, something he apparently had trouble with when we found him, as he has gained weight. He wasn't finding enough food, and definitely not finding adequate water since it hadn't been raining here for a while. No we just need to socialize him and get him set with his larger housing and vaccines, which will be at the end of the month.

Well Rene is going to be everything BUT a salmon faverolle lol! She has decided to be all the colors which is fine.:) Ethel, Dutch, and Sallie still growing like spoiled little weeds.

Hopefully it doesn't get any closer. I can't imagine it's easy to breathe for the animals either.

That's what happens when you walk up on him all sexy like.
We had ash last week. My Brother lives in redding and they had cinders there.

It would be hard for the fires to get much closer because of the farmland in the Valley. The Yolo fire was the closest--about 15 miles but the wind was blowing the other way

I will be glad when they're big enough to explore the yard. They want to now but i'm pretty sure they'll still fit through the fence holes. Those are some smart girls, I babied Ethel that one day and the next Sallie was acting the same. For science I put Sallie in the worm tub just like I did Ethel and she had a complete recovery instantly. So either they are really smart or they talk to each other. I'm waiting for Dutch and Rene to catch the worm tub sickness.;)
Very Cute!

They devote most of their brain to food!

They are very motivated that way and a worm tub would be a big goal for them

That makes a lot of sense. I haven't given them worms in about a week because i'm letting babies grow but those girls have seen that tub from day 1. I didn't expect them to be so sneaky about getting more though. I thought some kind of disease was going on and it was...fat chicken syndrome.:caf
