do the birds try to eat exposed spray insulation.. like they do the white styrofoam?

Yes. If they can reach it they will test it out. I think its the texture that gets them revved up to keep eating the stuff.
With the window insulation in the gaps covering it with the hardware cloth while covering the windows stops them.

Jealous. How do you make it? Just toss some peaches in a pot and simmer the heck out of it forever? I've made apple butter before, but not peach butter. Our local orchard has peaches, but I haven't made it out there yet.

I always stuck the other side in a cup b/c I didn't want to waste what leaked out, or I pumped while the kid was eating. Everyone was all like Why are you doing that? Just give her a bottle. How do you know she's getting enough? Sigh.. It's MY kid, I'll feed her how I like. And the name thing.. right there w/ you! Everyone hated my kids' names. My mom still says my older one's name wrong. They asked why I didn't give them "Normal" names. Everyone spells their names wrong. It doesn't help that my ex insisted on changing the spelling. It's been long enough that they should have them down by now. (I also hate my name.. Why shouldn't I be given the opportunity to give my kids names they'll hate too?)

The peach butter is easier than apple butter. I blanch, peel, pit and drop in the big pot. I take a potato masher and smush them some then simmer on low about 30 minutes. I take a hand blender and turn it all to a slurry. After another 30 minutes in the pot I measure out 6 cups into another big pot and bring to a boil on medium. Adding sugar and cooking another 15 minutes 2 cups of sugar was plenty this year.
I get my jars and water bath canner ready during the cooking time.
Once its cooked the full time I add 2oz pectin and stir like crazy while cooking for one minute more. Then its just filling the jars and doing a 10 minute water bath.
Mine did not thicken like jam likely because I cut the sugar to less than half of the 4&1/2 cups it called for. It makes 3 pints which is disappointing. I ran out of pectin so when I make more I will double the batch size. It doesn't foam up so my same pots should be fine.

It can be done without pectin but would need to be cooked down to the thickness desired.

Don't forget to stir everything often. :th

I have 8 cups of peach puree in the fridge for the next batch.

Oh and 1tsp of fruit fresh per every cup of peach puree helps it keep its beautiful sunny color.

Ha :lau
My name is Maureen.. One grandmother wrote it Morine and the other Murine
My nickname is Mo, but people like to put down Moe
Doesn't matter what they call me, just not late to dinner :gig

Oh my goodness! Your name IS spelled the traditional way. WHY is it so hard for people to get it right?
:he

Imagine growing up in the 70's with the name Barbara......oh yeah that was fun.

My daughter's name is Rachel. My mom spells it Rochelle. Really?!? :hmm
Yes she was another that over mothered my daughter instead of grandmothering her.
Kind of ticked me off every time she would say "my Rachel". Pretty sure I was the one that gave birth.
;)

Everyone always got my first name right, but it was my last name they were constantly messing up. My maiden name was Carrow, pronounced like arrow with a C on the front. People were constantly mispronouncing it. In fact, if someone on the phone asked for Mr. or Mrs. Car-row, 95% of the time, they were telemarketers. My brother actually had a school year book where they showed his last name as Carroll. My married name is almost as fun. I think a lot of telemarketers are embarrassed to say Cockerham which is pronounced exactly as spelled. Hey, it is a great last name to have when you get into breeding chickens!

Soooo.... I’m Kimberly. Not Kim and never ever Kimmy. My Mom wanted a name that couldn’t be shortened but my sister picked my name.

Growing up when kids would call the house if they asked for Kim they were told “no one by that name lives here.” As an adult I always introduce myself as Kimberly yet people always shorten it. If I’m introduced by another person who calls me Kim I put my hand out to shake and say “Kimberly.” Then before the exchange is done ask their name again, even if I remember it, because generally people will double check what my name is and say “Kimberly” yet again. It never ceases to amaze me how people automatically assume it’s ok to call you something different.

And no I don’t mind FNF or Nunny. LOL

You need piggies! :lau

We always knew when telemarketers called looking for Fred. They would try and act like a family friend and assume my dad went by Fred.... he never has! He’s a Jr with the first name Fredrick. His dad was Fred and my dad has always been Rick. It was always funny when they were told Fred doesn’t live here and you could hear the pause as they tried to figure out what to do.

My daughter's name is Kyra, pronounced like Kyra Sedgwick - K-EAR-a, but everyone wants to call her K-EYE-ra... My mom calls her Kara. It gets spelled wrong. Last year a sub yelled at her for correcting her. She had academic awards and as we were waiting for her name to be called we were discussing whether or not they'd mess up her name.. Spoiler, they did. AND I got it on video.. as they finished saying K-EYE-ra my kids says Damn it! and walks up. I did ask the office lady a few days later if they'd say it wrong at her graduation and she said that they do go over the names before hand so they should get it right. Oh, and it was her principal who did it. She'd also been corrected more than once... The principal actually said "Oh, I've heard about you".. b/c of the incident w/ the sub. She's been in the same system her whole life.. hopefully by her sr year people figure it out... but she does answer to K-EYE-ra, but she does correct them.

Ohhhhh thanks! I might actually make that. 3 pts is a good amount for us. Otherwise it'd be wasted.

I have and ancestor from the 1800's who's name was either Barbra, Barbara, or Barbry, but haven't seen a single record where she was just called Barb.
My cousin's name is Cristin and my gma ALWAYS called her Christian... which isn't even a girl's name. It was so weird. I get that it's 1 letter off, but she was corrected repeatedly.

Oh on the name shortening thing, my DH is David, NOT Dave. He hates when people call him that. My MIL is Katherine, not Kathy (which is what her mother still calls her).

Just be ready for it to be thinner than a jam. It's super delish though.

I am right there with ya'll about the shortening of names. Oh what fun to be constantly called Barbie.
:barnie

:yesss: In reading the name Kyra I pronounced it correctly in my head.

Got it Rae. It's David not Dave or Davey. My hubby is Richard. Yup NOT Rich, Ritchie, Rick, or that other common shortening.:smack
