Well, I picked up 10 tins of sardines. At 3 sardines per tin, that is 30 days of fish. The plan is 1 sardine per day, coated with 1000 IU of vit D. I will give her other treats with the vit D to keep her from getting overly bored, as well as adding it to a syringe of baby food every so often. Gurtrude definitely likes sardines. We will see how things go.

lol I did find a bright side to him scarfing down the pizza..... It didn't take up fridge space.

Seriously .

Hubby is on call this weekend. He got a pizza, ate 1/4 of it and left it in the box on the stove.

Guess what happened.



Nope not a fire.



Nope it didn't dry out.


Yup the big ole dog ate 3/4 of a pizza in under 2 minutes.


That'll learn me not to go to the restroom.......ever!

Yep......better start stock up on the depends

Well now they're eating chicken food. If these turtles start crowing i'm out of here. My newest "chicken" seems to have had a run in with something and does nothing but hiss ......must be a game turtle .

I love just looking out and seeing the whole group just having a good chicken day. It is so peaceful and kind of beautiful. I'm easy to please.

Molpet, thank you for the morning random thought. I'll give Gurtrude 2000 iU starting tonight if she doesn't pick up her intake of oyster shell during the day. I'll also try to hunt down a full spectrum bulb for the light they have if she's still being funky about her eggs.

In the meantime, dogs got me up way too early to go outside, so back to bed with 2 little snugglers. The big boy will come plop on DH's side of the bed soon.

On a We have people building on the lot next door, and the guys doing the rebar for the foundation have been using our driveway. I actually had to ask them to move their truck so I could leave on Thursday and Friday. Today they were just getting here, so I asked them not to use our driveway. They wanted to use it to unload the rebar and have an easier time getting it in the hole they're working in. We already have damage to the driveway from the construction, and DH asked the property owner to not have construction crews use our driveway. It wouldn't be so if the guys moved their truck after offloading, but seriously!!! You're gonna leave your truck parked in a driveway that obviously leads to a house that is not part of the property being built on. Someone doesn't know what common courtesy is. What on earth makes them think it's ok to block the neighbor's driveway, requiring them to be asked to move their truck just so the neighbor can go about their business and go someplace without being inconvenienced by them. The new neighbors seem ok so far from what we've seen, but this particular bunch of contractors are not very courteous and have to be asked to not remain parked in our driveway. After having to move their truck twice, you would think they'd figure it out. Obviously, we are not working with quick learners...

Thank you Anansi. You always have such good info. We will see how the vet thing goes. I have only been there with a chicken once before, but they were really really great. Very thorough exam process and no judgement that I have pet chickens. Hopefully they will be willing to give her whatever she needs.




There did seem to be some sort of membrane or something around "the glob." But I don't what it is or what it means. And after loosing my favorite hen a month ago (didn't post about it at the time cause I was a wreck) I have decided I would rather make a potentially unnecessary vet visit, rather than loose another chicken from something that might be treatable I did save the icky glob though in case the vet wants to look at it
Also, thank you for responding to my desperate "what is this?!" It is so nice to have people I can come to with questions or problems.
