We always used a the bristle brush kind growing up. When I started cleaning for a job the soft swab kind was used. I do like those better cause you don't get splattered with toilet water when cleaning.

Got the waterer clean no problem. The same as if I had used a sponge. I want to switch to nipple waterers but I'm cheap and want to make them. Another project on the list.

I get food grade buckets at my grocery store free from the bakery......BONUS they left a few cups of chocolate frosting in last time.



They hold about 3 gallons.

I get 6 gal buckets from work. They can be scrubbed out and used.
Like I said it's just another project on the list and I have 3 waterers already....

Thanks, i have read a lot on that topic. Slowly checking things off my list to be ready for anything when the SHTF.

She seems to be doing ok. It's harder for me to monitor cause I'm not living where the chickens are.

I'm tempted to bring her and my Swedish Flower Sugar to the house. Sugar had always been low low low in the packing order but I think she's blind in one eye now.
Was going to start a thread on her.... the list goes on.

Did get a delivery at the coop today. That should be the rest of the wood I need to finish it. (If Dad would stop kicking boards and finding reasons to replace them)

I planned to call my coop the CALICO CHICKEN COOP, but it may end up as NEVER ENDING COOP BUILD.

Today i put hardware cloth at the base of run#1. Hubby actually helped, and put trim around the door to keep the door from swinging in. I made sure there were enough screws on the back of the roof to keep coons from crawling in the eaves.
So tomorrow i want to put a hardware cloth skirt around the base of the coop. And work on run #2 some more. I may get the door built for the other half of the coop tonight.

I was going to ask covering between the eves with hardware cloth.

So its 8' from under the roof rafters down. Then it's a space maybe 4" tall between each rafter before the roof hits.

I thought "ventilation!" But put the HW cloth on the outside or inside?

I wonder if you could bring them and crate them in the house while you are away.
I really wish I could give you my 2x4x2 transport crate.
