I have a chicken quilt on my bed!
I have a toddler bed size chicken block quilt that I made dd (4th kid) when she was a baby 21 years ago.
It’s packed away in one of those huge vac bags in case she wants it some day. Maybe I’ll dig it out one day and show you guys.
I can still remember the fabrics though. Chickens, brown eggs, and chicken wire, with a white ruffled satin edge.
Lol

See I was pining away for chickens from waaaaay back!

I don’t know how I found the time to do stuff back then. My house was always full of happy chaos I guess!

It was precious and when I packed it away it was still in excellent shape! Maybe she’ll want it some day!

I'm thinking these manna pro egg maker supplement would be my next step, since Gurtrude hasn't been doing anything with her oyster shell. I may also get a separate bag of oyster shell and sr if she just doesn't like the one I have. I know that sounds ridiculous, but who knows, it's worth a try. I'll pick that stuff up on Friday, in the meantime, I'll be keeping the lights for the birds off. I'll keep y'all updated. Thank you for being such a wonderful bunch of crazy chicken peeps full of information, spontaneity and hilarious senses of humor. :hugs:hugs:hugs:love:love:love

One thing I found about oyster shells......
They are not created equal.

Mine refuse anything but pacific pearl brand.
It is sold by the pound at Jax here. They always have a bag that breaks so they offer it in smaller quantities.

Or I could send you some.

I don’t know how Cappy does it! Parts of my body I didn’t know I had hurt.:th

Questions:
Is the metal roofing hard to cut? What do you use? I thought it came in 6’ lengths but I’m only finding it in 8’.

Also, what do you guys do with your dog poop? At the old house it was impossible to pick up. We had dogs and the landlords dogs would come over. Other dogs would be over. Poop everywhere.
I’m trying to pick it up when they go but I was retching this morning. I have a bucket going to put it in but my god the smell!

There are a few ways to cut the metal roofing.
I found the fastest and safest was with a blade for metal in my circular saw.

A jig saw can work but takes forever. An angle grinder works too but dang is it dangerous.

Personally..... If the roofing wouldn't end up being a head knocker I would leave the extra as overhang...... On your structure I think it would be to low.

I dispose of dog doo by using the scoop...
I have one on a 3' handle like a stand up dust pan but metal and short rake like for clearing under shrubs. Then into a trash bag and into the regular trash.
I use cheap bags for bathroom can size.

I am able to pick it up every time they go though since I am a homebody.

I’m hard core about dog poop. I walk around every day with a glove on and a bag on my hand and another bag in my opposite hand.

DH has a poop scoop he loves which has a bag that hangs on the business end.
You scoop and jiggle and the poop falls into the bag. He loves it so much he’s had like four of them.
It was designed by a boy scout or something years ago.

In theory it’s great. But not if you have a lot of big dog dogpoop. Or god forbid, swishy poop! It’d be awesome if you had little dogs and dry tiny turds.
Removing and replacing the bag is disgusting.

I know someone with a doggy Dooley system.
It’s Like a septic tank for dog poop. https://www.chewy.com/doggie-dooley...cmPGaZXrSKUeIqhhkX3aSJt6rc-_sWPRoC3XIQAvD_BwE

Good point about the squishy poo. :sick

In grass it's a night mare!!
My dogs have run all vegetation out of the kennel. I put 5 tons of pea gravel on one end of my ginormous kennel and 99% of the time they "go" there.
