LOL I did that one time I came home after working 2nd shift and found a car parked in my side drive... in front of the no parking sign on the old garage. I drug it into the ditch. As I was unhooking it some kids came running up from the woods, They said their parents would kill them... I said you shouldn't have parked where it says no parking and shouldn't be on my property... I left them in the ditch and drove to the house. Before I could get in the house to call the police, pre cell phone, they had pushed it out of the ditch and left. :lau:gig
Hahahahahaha

Going shopping tomorrow, need more welded wire to finish the 2nd run.
My CL pullets are failures as garden tillers, they mostly hang out in the tractor. If my SS wouldn't fly out over the fence i would put them in there for a while. Dirt would fly then, let me tell you!
You need dorkings for that! They have five toes so more to dig with. Dorkings are not like modern chicken breeds--They were used in quite a few of them though

Back when I was in the early stages of researching chickens, I went to this guys place to look at his tractors as they didn't follow the standard Salatin model. They were pretty odd sized from my perspective so very curious. They were relatively narrow and came in different lengths. His answers to why were pretty simple. He had one tractor sized to set just inside his raised beds and a bunch much narrower and longer. The latter were sized to go between his vegetable rows planted in the ground.

During the growing season he ran the birds between his crop rows to keep the soil soft and fertilized, bugs and weeds out. When his raised beds were done, he'd put the birds out there for a month or so and then move them into the greenhouse for the winter.

OK, so it's great news! I don't have throat cancer AND I didn't have to get scoped. I begged the medical assistant for about ten minutes to convince the doctor not to scope me, due to my severe puke phobia. It was not sounding promising because he was insisting that the doc was gonna have to scope me, and I'm sure I sounded like a neurotic freak. For real though, I almost had a panic attack while I was trying to convince him. I mean I almost started crying. I'm sure they had a good laugh over it when I left.

Anyway, instead of scoping me he put on a headlight and shoved a long dentist mirror down my throat and had me make all these noises. And that was good enough--along with palpating it--for a diagnosis. And it turns out I have some weird-ass condition called (I sh*t you not) "Clicking Throat Syndrome." It's like an overgrown hyoid bone, and means absolutely nothing. Except my throat clicks when I swallow. :wee

I went and swallowed a couple beers and a pizza with DH after finding that out!!! I am SO RELIEVED!!!!!! No cancer, no puking, no gagging, and no scope.

Whew!!
Great news!! :hugs
I am such a bad patient! I go in with the mindset that they can't do anything without my consent and have refused several procedures recommended to me.
Congrats on your recovered peace of mind!:D

Morning, unfortunately:th Normally I'm asleep at this time, but guess whose brain is stuck in "am I going to have to ask someone to move their vehicle so I can go where I need to?" I did talk to the property owner and pointed out that there is a whole section of the street on the north side with no driveways that can be used without affecting access to his property, but that using the section on the south side affects 3 families with driveways that are within 15 feet of each other. Or if 3 weeks that they've been working on that property, my ability to come and go as I please or need to had been impacted on 6 days. That's not how you treat someone with a house that will be literally 20 feet from yours. It would be very easy to make their lives difficult, especially if they have small kids. I have to take 3 dogs out on leashes during the day so that my big dog doesn't go over there while people are working. Used to be I only had to have the 2 small ones on a leash. I don't think anyone took in to account how all of this would impact the lives of the people who already live here. They definitely didn't consider it when they made the plans for the house. If they had, maybe the county would have said they can't build such a large home there. Granted, none of their structures will be on our property, but it definitely had made life more difficult for the time being. I shouldn't be losing sleep wondering if I'm going to be able to do what I need to the next day without having to ask someone to move a construction related vehicle. :rantIt's not even worth me trying to sleep at this point, I have to be up in and hour and 45 minutes. :he:he:he

Maybe soon I'll be less aggravated with the whole tatering mess, but I doubt the problem had been resolved just because I spoke with the property owner. This is the 3rd time we've talked to them about reducing the impact to our daily lives. If I have to keep asking them, I'm going to be talking to the county, the is no reason that we should have to continually say something to them just to live in our own home without being inconvenienced by their construction. Yes, I understand that there will be an increase in noise and the coming and going of people. Yes, I understand that they will have to dig in front of our driveway to lay a conduit for utilities. That I expect. I just don't want to have to ask people to move vehicles just because it's easier for them to block us in than taking the time yo use the section of the street where nobody lives. I don't think it's unreasonable, they can still do everything they need to as far as pouring concrete and unloading supplies and equipment. I guess they are so used to dealing with subdivisions under construction that they forget to think about the fact that people actually live here, and these houses have been here since at least 1982.

On the lighter side at least the birds are happy, and I have a 9 lb cuddle buddy snoozing on my lap, everyone is asleep and I'm listening to crickets in DD #'s 3 & 4's room chirping away as they try to entice a mate, totally oblivious to the fact that they are going to be someone's next meal. And I have y'all to keep me company and brighten my day. Hopefully my lousy mood will change as well. I was depressed enough without the stuff with the construction next door.:oops: I'll try to not rant about it on here anymore, cuz y'all are too awesome to get aggravated with all of the grousing.

Have the most bestest day you can. :hugs:hugs:hugs:love:love:love for everyone.

@apryl29 Lol! He isn't living in a chicken coop, the chicken coop has windows.:caf
Touche'

You would think, but that sucker is sunk in the ground a good foot and a half. I didn't mention it is two stories, he's made an almost spiral staircase out of pallets to get to the one door it has. Building inspector would have an absolute ball with that man.:)
... not sure I could live in a house w/ no windows AND a spiral staircase, regardless of what it's made of. Was he there before you moved in?
So, my parent's old house was one of those build it yourself situations that was built buy a bunch of alcoholic hillbillies. There was concrete in the utility room for the floor, all the other floors were hardwood, BUT under the house was all dirt. It was so weird.

PBM you got this! If he says he wants to scope ask more questions about it then decide.

Apryl, no one walked the property. I don't think they bothered to drive by.

Speaking of people living in chicken coops-- there was a little old lady living in one across the street from my grand parents most of my life. I don't know how it happened that she moved into a chicken coop but plumbing was added and that was it...she lived there till she died.
Hmmm, maybe you could make a copy of the property lines and take it over and tell them you think the wood pile might be on your side of the line. It could be a thing that the old owners knew about, but just didn't do anything or they told them it wasn't a problem. How does the mowing work? Like do they mow that whole strip up to/ past the wood pile? My dad mows the spot behind their yard, but someone else mows it. It's a clearing and he doesn't want the weeds to grow up there, but we certainly don't put things there (except maybe dead animals).

Wow, I can't imagine living in an actual chicken coop would be very healthy. I'm going to assume there were no longer any chickens living in the coop at that point (I hope!).

I am so fed up with contractors, i can't even explain the whole thing. But they started putting in my bath tub Sept. 1st and it's screwed up. Guy's car is messed up and he has no money to fix it. I specifically told him i was not waiting until October 1st to get a bath. :rant:mad::duc
How'd they screw it up? Aren't you the one who had the goat shed contractor issue too?

It's frustrating because of the what-if's. Today I didn't have anything going, but there are appts every week. I'm job hunting, kids have places to be, and I'm the one taking them when I'm not working. DD#3 has appts that we have to schedule way in advance, like 4 months out, and if we end up missing one of those because of our driveway being blocked, and not being told about it, that's another 4 mos before she can be seen by that specialist. If I have an interview and am blocked in, that's a job that I could lose out on because I want aware that I wouldn't be able to leave when I needed to. DH only had to think about getting home from work, and it's an inconvenience to have to park on the road and walk up the driveway. He doesn't have to deal with breaking to leave during normal business hours for stuff like appointments, getting DD#4 from school at a specific time so she can be to her college class on time, and other things like that. I explained all of that to DH, so maybe he gets it (though I'm not going to hold my breath).
I'm thinking it's not really a problem w/ the contractor. Yes, they're inconsiderate, but it really sounds like the property owner is the one who's a jerk. If I were you I'd be expecting issues from that guy once they do move in. He doesn't sound like he'll be the best guy to live near. As for the contractors, can you put a sign at the end of your driveway that says Do Not Block Driveway. I agree w/ everyone else about calling the police. If you have to leave and they're in your way I'd find someone working there and tell them they have 10 min to move their stuff, or you're calling the police. If you end up killing someone, we'll be your alibi.

Great news! and Weird. So pretty much as long as you're willing to live with it there's nothing to do, or will it eventually get to the point they need to do something about it.

Yes,but Lulu normally lays way darker that egg is more her sister's color. The other egg is from a dominique so honestly it should be darker too.
Does molting affect their egg coloring?

My daughter wants a dorking. She says their the corgi of the chicken world.

As long as you're refusing stuff that's excessive. I've known people who refuse or delay treatment for serious conditions and end up regretting it. I have a friend who had a bulging disk and had been in pain for months before her chiropractor FINALLY sent her to see a orthopedic surgeon, they sent her to get an mri and then had her come back to see what it said (this all took 2 months). So at the end of Dec she goes in and the guy says you need surgery, get scheduled and we'll take care of it. She calls to sched the appt. They have one for the 2nd week of Jan or the first week of Feb. Which one does she take? The feb one. We yelled at her and told her to call them back and get the earlier appt, but it was already taken. She ended up suffering for an extra month and a half. She was sleeping sitting on her couch with her head on a tray table and could only see 1 hr at a time. She could barely walk.. after the surgery the dr said it was the worst one he's ever seen. She gets it from her mama... she had spotting well past menopause and delayed going to the dr for months b/c she hates drs. Turns out it was uterine cancer. Luckily it hadn't spread so they just removed her uterus and she's been fine since, but it could have been much worse if her daughters didn't force her to go see someone.
