I have been busy all day installing and filling feeders, waterers etc. I got the hinged sides on the bigger brooder, and moved the young guineas over there. And i moved the quail back into the duplex i cleaned and painted the inside of, then redesigned the feeders, painted them and reinstalled. Much better!

Jeeze! Everybody just wanted to be a tater! I had to shove some chickens, yup shove just so the ones that hadn't gotten on the roost could get up there. Negan and the old hens Susan and Marlene went to bed peacefully but Lulu, Hobo, Beavis and even Tucks were being butts! And of course everybody wanted to roost at once instead of in stages like normal.:barnie

I was going to do sliding barn door for my entrance. There is a 28 1\2" opening in the wall. So I thought a 40" door would give plenty of extra space on either side for wind and snow protection as well as predator. With the brackets to hold it close to the wall that is.

Don't mind the very rough drawing.
So the yellow part is filled in now. (Not in the picture.) Put the track where the blue line is. There is header there from it being a garage door opening. Then have the door be that green part. A good 5" extra on either side. Black lines would be U brackets to act as a stop on the right and hold the door back from swinging out to far.
I love the idea of a sliding barn door

So some yeahs and some neighs to the barn door. I think I'm going to give it a try. If it doesn't work I'll put some hinges on it and hang it like normal. Now if I could only get this taterin coop done!
They always seem to take forever. I still have not finished the roof on the guinea run. So much other stuff to do. I planted an apple tree today. It has been sitting in a pot for months!

My chickens are a wreck too. Maybe it’s molting AND the change of season AND How we’ve gone from losing a tiny bit of noticeable light at the end of the day to :
DANG! It’s pitch black outside already! I need to go lock up the run!

example:

I thought it was at least “nearing” bedtime. Dinner was finished. Dishes were done, so I started my routine.
Scooped the litter box, took the dogs out, put on my pj’s, brushed my teeth... then came back out to the living room and DH cracked up and said it was my new personal best. Ready for bed at just past 8. :clap
:eek::celebrate:th

Clean sheets on the bed too.
MMMmmmmmm:gig

This time of year messes me up too.
