Official Squatch Watchers

The plug at one time was the “cheese”.
Really? Iv'e done a couple Marlene's and there is a plug then give it a little push and iv'e got a cheese gyser. I was like where is the rest? With Hobo's. Marlene does tend to overdo everything though, even bumbles.:)

Chicky,
My brahmas sound like bowling balls dropping off the roost in the morning!
I really like thinking of them as horses better.
I haven't heard her jump down yet, Rene and her take elevator rides on my arm to get down in the morning. They're plenty big enough but they still expect it. I imagine when she doesn't want rides anymore she'll shake the floor.:D

Nunny i'm going to put this as frankly as I can without getting scolded....F them! :caf
I think what annoys me most is that although I don't agree with his view that chickens are livestock and should be treated as such I understand why he feels that way. I respect his opinion and let him have it, that's his opinion.
But because my opinion is not the norm, even among some chicken owners, I'm just wrong.

Show your hubby the birthday beaver. :lau

:oops:

HAHAHAHA!!!!!! I knew somebody had to say it, lol!!!!!!! :lau

It was a really good day, y'all. Thank you guys fr the birthday wishes! I have a lot of catchng up to do tomorrow. Loves you all!!!! :love :hugs :love

::::rant:::::
Super annoyed with a non chicken friend. Called and asked about borrowing his truck. (The moving person has a small coop that the D'Uccles where in. Said if the home buyer doesn't want it it's mine.) So say what going on and just asking cause it's up in the air but want to be prepared. I said something about, "I got the chickens might as well get their house." and the lecture on my chickens started.
He grew up on a cattle farm. So feels that chickens are livestock. When I was talking about Sugar and how I found her and was trying to nurse her back to health he said I should have just culled her. I know I'm a softie. I don't like to cull. I don't want to. But if I thought she had no hope or was suffering I would have done it. I'm keeping an eye on Gladys. Her spirits are high and she seems happy. Will she ever walk normal? Probably not. But she eats and drinks and POOPS. So why not let her live. He would have culled her too.
Gives me this "you're a farmer" crap. No. No I'm not a farmer. These are my pet chickens. Do I have a lot of pet chickens? Yes. But they are a flock animal. They do better in a flock. The flock is healthy.
I don't have 30 cats. Eating and pooping all over the place and making each other and me sick.
I have chickens living like chickens should.
::::end rant::::
easy to say cull them when you don't have a relationship with them.
I raise for meat and eggs. I have 2 ISA brown layers that are 2 1/2 yrs.. one doesn't assemble her eggs any more (or they break when she is laying them).. the white runs out , then the yolk shoots out and then the shell plops out. She gets any eggs in the nest messed up :barnie Do you think I can cull her :oops: she eats out of my hand, I can't :hit

I understand that feeling. We are thought of as weird especially when we have them in the backyard and not out in the country on a farm
I also have mine in my backyard....granted, we do have half an acre but still live in downtown. I know what you mean....when I tell people I raise chickens they always say " Oh, I thought you lived in town?" Then they look at me like I'm a nutjob having chickens in my backyard. :idunno

Even worse I txt the ex that I didn't make it to the old house to check on the chickens. If I don't he will make sure they are ok. It's odd for me not to make it at all so he asks "busy day?" I said "yes, getting into trouble." Then send a pict of new chickens. He asks why I'm in trouble and I say cause I know people think I'm nuts. "They make you happy. Who cares what other people think." <--- from the man who hated the chickens cause they took my attention.
Hey. Here’s a girlfriend’s reminder not to get sucked into him being nice and showing that he’s “changed”.

Unless that’s what’s you want. :hugs

Also Just sayin’ you guys should be proud of me that I’ve stopped taking a drink of water out to my girls when I do my bedtime chicken check. It was killing my lower back leaning in there to hold the bowl out to whichever one was on the far side of the roost. How’s THAT for treatin’em like livestock?:gig:gig:lau:lau

People who find out my secret are like
