Chicken food is often better than cat food. ;)

Ok, all these Thanksgiving stories brings me to a Christmas Story...

Background:
Everyone gathered at Grandma's house for Thanks Giving and Christmas. Grandma believed the FDA/USDA and killed her turkeys. She had two hams and two turkeys every year plus sides.

Ok, Fast forward: The last year we did together, I was home on leave and grandma couldn't negotiate the stairs, so DW and I were in charge of many of the meal items.
Mind you we're talking about 14 week old GMO turkeys. I prepared them as I always do, with brine and then proper cooking.

Everyone went crazy over them. Told Grandma they were the best turkeys she's ever cooked. Really lowered my status in the family tree. When I told her what I did different her immediate response was the USDA says that's not safe. And then I had to explain how the USDA works.

This right here is why cats make me nervous, this was this morning and was taken just so I could fuss at Hubs.View attachment 1591836
See all that grass? That isn't grass, it is hay twits. I emptied a little bag of hay in the nest boxes and threw away the bag. See that blue pile of fabric? Those are Hubs dirty work pants just tossed in the floor, a no no if there ever was one. See the cat? She rolled around on hub's pants, apparently got high, drug the hay bag out of the garbage, ate hay and fought with the bag in at least two rooms and the hallway and then passed out on the funky pants again...oh yeah, totally trust cats.:lau
:love What cute cat!

Nice Story!

That sounds like a lot of food so lots of left overs to send home with guests!

She's adoreable until you have to vacuum hay with a really bad vacuum cleaner. I'm trying not to tax the poor thing so it lives till Christmas, she isn't making that easy. :p
:yuckyuck

19 for Thanksgiving........we are a fun bunch. We love to play games and we can get quite loud. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday

That's how it should be..... Enjoyed, looked forward to, and fun.

I envy you that.

It has been 17 years since any of the extended have gathered here. (Not just at my house but at all.)

I am ok with that for my household.
