That....is....NASTY! I've heard from several farmers on a Permaculture FB group I'm in that half the USDA meat inspectors know next to nothing about animals, just about the butchering process. One last thing before I go to bed.
@Redhead Rae , I don’t know how to do the spoiler thingy so skip this post. Please.
Just move along.
It’s gonna be gross.
At today’s visit to Walmart -where I don’t personally purchase meat, they had these “chickens paws” again.
Seriously. If they call them that, which is disgusting enough all by itself, I would assume that this meat product MUST come in from some other country.........
BUT NO!
The label clearly states that they are HATCHED, RAISED, and HARVESTED in the USA
and
That they’ve been inspected by the USDA for “wholesomeness”,
Yet ,
30% of these chicken feet are clearly infected!
Wouldn’t a USDA inspector know what BUMBLE FOOT looks like, and that it’s a STAPH infection!?!?
And HOW can that possibly be safe for people to eat?

Don't worry about me. The reason I can't think about butchering now is more because of the smells than the sights. Heck, I still watch pimple popping and ingrown toenail removal videos.

I know exactly how you feel though. I check the wind speed now too. LOL It’s like I try to calculate if I should open the door and for how long. Most of the time I don’t bother. They won’t go out in it. And yes the new coop is quickly filling with poop! I thought it seemed like a lot but hearing everyone’s chickens have turned into poop machines I feel better.
