Making another trip to Virginia today/tomorrow.
Good morning! I ate waaay to much cheese yesterday. Everybody brought little food gifts and of course I ate them.![]()
In other news the two OE boys were processed. And were healthy. No signs of what we saw in the other chicken. I really think it was genetics triggered by stress.
You just reminded me I should eat SOMETHING. I had made a couple eggs but my doggies ended up begging them off me.
I am such a pushover for those eyes.

I love your chicken cookies!View attachment 1622046 View attachment 1622047 View attachment 1622048 so this is what I've been doing. Baking cookies and making Christmas ornaments with some chicken feathers. Not sure how well you can see it but, the ornaments has soft downy and silky feathers in it.
Loki was like that too when she hit the bad part of her molt. She never got as naked as my white egger, except on her chest, but she wouldn't even leave the roost to get some scratch. I had to hand feed her which involved her trying to literally eat my hand. She's looking amazing now and acting much more like her old self, though I know she's not done yet. Just keep an eye on her and make sure no one else is picking on her.I will post pics, now that I have some free time!
They wouldn't take away your badge, that has to be some kind of wacky screwup. You are a good friend!! So weird.
I'm hoping it's just the molt. She's also very antisocial lately, and quiet, and normally she's at the top of the pecking order.
This is my first molting with all my girls, so I'm still learning! Willow (my naked chicken) was also very mopey, scrawny-looking, and pathetic when she was molting, and then all of a sudden her new feathers grew in and she is healthy, fleshed out, and acting and looking normal again! Maybe it makes them super-uncomfortable when they molt.
Another weird thing I notice with my molters is that hey will hold one foot up for some time, and then another (their feet are all good, no bumbles). Do any of yours do that?
Good to see you!I'm here, I'm here! I thought you all must have forgotten me by now.![]()
I hate that when you reply to a thread it automatically adds it to your watch list and starts sending you emails. There's reasons why I rarely respond to posts anymore. I might check them out, but rarely feel the need to chime in unless no one's responded yet or it's something I've personally have experience with.View attachment 1622183
I will often post a reply on controversial threads and then unwatch the thread. I did that yesterday were whiting blues were being called EEs. I say my piece and then do not read the replies.
I thought the same thing when my bantam molted til she was almost completely naked last fall. She wasn't even a year old, I was floored when she lost all of her feathers & was certain she'd freeze to death, but she was fine. I assume it happens in the winter b/c if it happened in the summer we'd have a bunch of sunburned chicken. Pre-browned skin?If you ever have a chicken perched on your hand? Ever notice how the feet are super warm? They are trying to conserve heat since they have lost some of their insulation. It also takes more calories for them to stay warm, and they don't want to move because it's uncomfortable so they aren't eating as well. It would be nice if they could molt in 80 degree weather.
I was deliriously happy to see the sun set at 5pm last night (then I took a nap).Roosters must be able to sense the days are getting longer. Negan had been a tidbitting machine today almost to the point of being ridiculous. The girls aren't even looking at this point. I don't blame them he's calling to sticks and rocks. I know what he's up to and apparently so do they!![]()
Wow. I thought it was bad that I'm getting 2-5 eggs from my 13, though it's usually 2 or 3. And the 2 new layers are mostly what I'm getting right now.Of my 62 birds, about 35-40 are laying age. I'm getting 0-3 eggs a day. Stinkin' freeloaders.
I'm drawn to donkeys too, but I usually break up w/ them after about 6 months when I realize they're a jackass. [I can say that here... b/c we're talking about donkeys, right?]I want a couple of donkies sooo bad. No clue why, I am just drawn to them for some reason.
Oh wow. At least it wasn't a mullet, but it's almost as bad. Poor kid. I remember those days. My mom did that kind of thing too (though she's not a hairdresser). She was banned from cutting my daughters' hair early on. She'd cut their bangs by combing all of their hair forward at the crown and cutting them as bangs (w/o permission). She did this to me too as a child, I hated it. After I realized how cheap kids cuts were she was never allowed to touch their hair again. Why anyone would ever do this, I don't know. You never see an adult w/ all their hair combed forward like that, so why do it to a kid?Ugh, my mom (a former hairdresser) gave the Milk Drinker....a bowl cut....a friggin' bowl cut! I just had to get the clippers out and give him a high and tight haircut (like I give DH) that looks a little ragged because he wouldn't stop moving. It still looks better than a bowl cut.![]()
Wow. I thought I had it bad w/ the hack job my mom did.Not kidding Rae, I would have been ticked!
When my daughter was 12 my mom took my daughter to get a haircut........worth noting I had NEVER cut her hair short.......
She got her a super short cut with an upside down V in the back.
When I was a kid my mom buzzed my hair the same as my brothers. Yeah, good times, good times.
Damn... was there a single one of us who wasn't traumatized by our mother's hair cutting (lack of) abilities? My mom always cut my bangs straight across so I looked like Spock most of my childhood.![]()
That happened to my niece. My SIL decided to cut her hair one day and it wasn't straight so she just kept cutting and cutting, she finally stopped. Then my brother got home he fixed it as best as he could. Now they have 2 rules. 1. Never let mama cut your hair. & 2. Don't touch the car.My Dad cut my bangs crooked and kept trying to fix it. Ended up short and crooked.
I took my girls to the salon and they gave each of my kids to a different lady. My younger one ended up w a lady who totally screwed up my eye brows once so I was already leery, but all she wanted was a simple bob, like Dora the explorer... my kid ended up looking like a little amish boy. Who doesn't know what Dora looks like? She cried. It was horrible. That lady hasn't touched either of my kids' hair since. When I was a kid (like 6th/early 7th grade) my mom took me in for a hair cut and told them to cut it in a bob.....I have naturally curly hair and it looked up in to an afro type mop on my head. I HATED it. From that point on, she was no longer allowed to tell them how to cut my hair. I grew out my bangs and the rest of my hair and I never get it cut shorter than bra strap length now. She hated every minute of me growing it out but I will never have my hair look like that again!
Was hot here earlier for this time of year...not sure if that is sweat or my fat crying.
I'm in it.![]()
It's not nearly as trash as Windows 8. We skipped that entire OS. There's stuff that sucks about it, but a lot of it you can find ways to turn off. Your best bet is to go through the settings and check out everything. I have a 2 page list of things I turn off. We've got about 70 staff computers w/ 10 and ~75 public computers I need to upgrade next year. I've been avoiding it b/c our current systems have 7 and are working fine. That's IF my boss ever orders the computers. They were supposed to be ordered in August. This is the nicest way iv'e ever heard someone say windows 10 is garbage.![]()
It likely has a bunch of updates to do but after that, give it a chance. I am responsible for a hundred or so of them at work and they work very well. Even Staff that is not very computer literate do well with Windows 10.
Windows 7 will not be supported by Microsoft too much longer. The clock is ticking for learning how to use the OS.
Once an OS is not supported, it quickly becomes a danger for being compromised by hackers and crooks wanting to steal from you
Good evening everyone thank you for all your prayers thoughts & sentiments we greatly appreciate it time is drawing near they have had discussions on sedation to elevate pain & other matters well won't keep you take care be safe & have a blessed Christmas![]()

Not sure about the area where you live, but you might want to notify authorities (if you won't get in trouble for having an escapee).. that way if someone calls about him they can notify you. And maybe the lost pet sites on fb. Otherwise, just watch the news b/c I'm sure it'll get to them if a 350lb pig is roaming the streets.Yup him and one of the girls. Been 48 hours since he's been seen.
Same.I can relate! I too suffer from bad angles.![]()
There was a horrible incident in Chicago a few years back. Two Cane Corso loose in the hallway - a elderly woman was trying to get into her apartment. Not only did they maul her to death but, when police came to kill them - they were starting to eat her body.
Glad to hear you were able to find someone to take the boys & that they were ok. One less thing to worry about.Had a nice 4 day weekend here! I never get those. Always end up working or running errands. I actually took a nap on Christmas Eve. LOL
My niece loved her cupcake hat. I'm pretty sure she hasn't taken it off. She was quite sassy yesterday. That's to be expected with the go go go of the last three days. Her birthday, Christmas Eve, then Christmas Day. I don't envy my sister that little ball of energy.
In other news the two OE boys were processed. And were healthy. No signs of what we saw in the other chicken. I really think it was genetics triggered by stress.
Now a busy 3 day week with another long weekend!
I bet it was hard not to pull out the old 'What did you think would happen when you've got food in range of an eating machine'?Those eyes will starve you to death! Those begging eyeballs are the reason the cat has eaten at least as much cheese as I did.
Well, iv'e got a foster fish for a couple days. The neighbor dropped off a beta named Loki. I sat him next to my goldfish but had to move him because he wanted to be a dang beta.
Also had Lulu traumatize a child, she stole a little boy's bag of cheetos and then ate them in front of him...made him cry. I gave him some candy, and managed not to laugh but it was hard.
I wouldn't have laughed at the tears, but the speed, precision and orange chicken cheeks did get me.![]()
