@BantyChooks , Tucks isn't actually laying. Iv'e gotten maybe two eggs in a month from her. She is just choosing to ignore all that and do it anyway.
Her comb just noticeably pinked up this morning, i'm guessing the warmer than usual temps have scrambled her brain.:)
Days are getting longer. Some might be more sensitive than others.
 
Well, to the extent of building a nest an guarding it. Well before any eggs lots of times. My geese would claim and defend a nest box in Jan. and not lay for a month. The days are getting longer after Dec 21.
That I've seen, yes. When did you have geese? I've thought a few times about getting some, but I would definitely regret it.

Yep, she did the same thing last year. I get all exited because i'm getting a couple eggs "literally" and then she goes broody.
They might get desperate and put some rocks or dirt clods in the nest box to brood on!

Silly chickens!
