Official Squatch Watchers

Yeah, while we are living in a house on our own (with my in-laws) it is my parents house and it has a lot of issues. When the plan was to take over this farm house from my parents, I felt invested in it. Since we started the process of getting the land and looking for a house, I've really disconnected emotionally from this house.
I understand that, and I think it’s normal. It’s preparing you to embrace your new home!

Look, we had a 1month gap between houses because we sold ours and were in the process of buying but the sellers weren’t prepared to “vacate” as soon as we would have liked them to.

We moved in temporarily with my mom.
with 2 kids, 2 dogs, and a cat,
and the next week I delivered thing 3.

Oh lord. Talk about stressful!
(And my mom and I had a wonderful relationship!)

Honestly, I can remember almost NOTHING of that time period clear through moving and unpacking at the next house.

I think my mind erased it for my own protection.

The nice thing about the new house, my in-laws will have their own bedroom, kitchen, living room and bathroom. Of course, they practically have their own bathroom now, but my MIL NEVER cleans it. But she thinks because the bathroom isn't totally their's, my husband still takes showers in there, that she shouldn't have to clean it. Thing 1 and I take baths at my parents' house because both bathing facilities in this house are decidedly sub-par. If it gets bad enough in their area, I may have to tell them that they need to get someone out there twice a month to do a deep cleaning. I really don't want to clean my MILs bathroom.

Yuck. And you shouldn’t have to!

Apparently, according to my husband and SIL, ever since they were old enough to do the work, she's made them do most of the housework while not participating except to criticize. I think it has a lot to do with how she grew up. Her parents were missionaries in Pakistan before she was born and they didn't retire until the early 90's. So, when she was with her parents, they had native nannies, cooks, and house and yard staff. When she was school age, she was in boarding school. However, this reminds me of a saying I'm fond of quoting. Reasons are not excuses. Meaning the reasons for why a person is they way they are and behave the way they do aren't excuses to continue acting and behaving the way they do.

I like my MIL, but there are some things about her that can drive me crazy. Fortunately, I'm not as sensitive to it as my husband or SIL are because I don't have the baggage of being raised by her.

That sounds really scary... so if I'm reading correctly, as long as you keep a closed flock and are super careful about keeping other chicken people away from your birds & wear different clothes & shoes to your coop, they should be ok, right?
I guess....but hopefully it doesn't spread further than S Cali. Scary

Good morning! It was cold so I fed everybody and got my butt back under the covers.
Another night where I didn't get to bed until way after midnight because Hubs wanted to go to wal-mart.
Wal-mart was a necessity, he needed oil, an oil filter and marvel mystery oil for that blazer that pulls his yard man junk. He's clearing a yard and grinding a stump out in the cold.
Not a total crap trip though, got a 2019 calendar "museum of bad art" themed 2018 is finally over!
Might have more pullet eggs, Dutch and Ethel are acting wonky. Sallie is still peachy in the face though.:)

Caught Winston practicing his crow. Isnt he a cutie?
