Lots of suggestions were made on how to improve the coop and run. Apparently let them roam was easier.

It seems ridiculous that instead of fixing the issue w/ the coop they figure they'll just let them run around. It just seems really lazy. It annoys me that they didn't state the coop problems in the 2nd post about letting them fend for themselves. The whole part that ticks me off the most is that they SAW a dog trying to kill them, and SAW a possum scare them, but still did nothing to help them. They don't deserve those chickens, sorry, not sorry.

Their coop is small and almost tractor style. It just doesn't have wheels. They were noticing how wet the run area was and wondered what to do. People said move the coop... it's also barely big enough for one chicken and I think they have two. Again suggestions were made. I guess run free was the solution they chose.

Two of our PVC runs were picked up by the wind and thrown around and are broken, one probably irreparably. One of our mobile coops was tossed as well but looks fine. Fortunately none of the coops/runs had birds in them.

I got the impression from the coop thread, that they were not able to afford much

Chickens are survivors and they probably are better off that in that itty bitty nest box size coop. At least they can get away from predators. That said I do not think running around an urban neighborhood is a good idea
