Oh goodness. How is it doing? If it can't move around well, I would cull and move on. It doesn't sound like it has much of a chance.
No word on how it's doing. Last night he didn't think it was going to live long. He put it with a chick that also hatched.
Glad I hadn't sold any of the eggs. Bad enough I gave them to byc member. I feel horrible putting him through a footless poult. He has 8 more to hatch. One other had hatched and died right away. Another bycer has 6 one had hatched and was fine. I have 12 hatching Friday.... Worried they are too inbred.

Ouch, that is worrisome.

Morning everyone.

We got a few inches of snow overnight.

I am really glad I brought in all my plants.
It is going to be another snowy day here.
I refuse to like this post! And I agree with @oldhenlikesdogs :hit:hit

Cappy if they go with Ann for a middle name I suggest Kimberly for a first. It's a great combination. ;)

I was also a large girl at 9 lbs 12 oz. Oddly enough due to my heartbeat they thought I was going to be a boy.

She's absolutely perfect! Congrats!

I gave some turkey eggs and they are just starting to hatch. He has one with no feet, just a toenail on each leg. Any ideas as to what causes that,,?
Have you had this happen before (missing toes)?

I would consider that a petite baby for my family. My mom's smallest baby was over 9lbs. Thing 1 was 11lb 4 oz and 22 inches. I'm hoping Thing 2 is a bit smaller but not expecting a baby under 9lbs.
Dang girl. You and your mom are heroes. Mine oldest was 5lb 11 & the younger was 6lb 13. I couldn't imagine carrying, let alone pushing out anything near that big. Of course, you're more than a foot taller than me, but it doesn't seem fair that you've got to do so much more work. No wonder you're tired already! Have they given you any estimations on the baby's size recently?

So strange, but if it's the only one with an issue I'd just say it's a fluke. Animals inbreed all the time, so unless you see any more of your eggs hatch with defects I wouldn't worry about it. Kinda like PBM's freak footed chicken... you never know what's going to pop out of that shell.

Plus snow is supposed to carry nitrogen, so a free fertilizing. :hmm

The saying here is 3 witches after the frogs start croaking. I think we are on witch number 2. So hopefully only one more crappy spell of bad weather. Soon I will be complaining about the heat. :)
Same. We're supposed to have mid 50's today & 80 tomorrow. Why can't we have a few temperate days w/ no rain before we get dropped into the middle of summer?
