Almost forgot, pics of the little girls. Not the best, they're speedy which is odd...but they're derps and demi derps so not really.;) First two are Dooneese.

In the old days they didn't. They'd turn them out in the woods and come harvest time go round them up. Next came hog rings. Apparently the rings preclude them from digging with their nose. Short answer to my situation is that I need different equipment to train and manage them and it's pretty expensive. A minimum of a 2 joule energizer (AC) for training and then a solar energizer for the field. Once trained a single wire will contain them.
I've been lied to by every movie I saw as child! I hope you're able to get it figured out.

I paid in 1% while I was working, towards retiree INS. Was supposed to be a low amount monthly when I retired. Of course it has skyrocketed
I will pay $355 a month starting in July, went up $20 a month from this year.
Currently the state constitution says they have to give retirees, of state retirement programs, what was promised. there has been some court battles over it, we won. Now they are looking at changing the constitution. Illinois didn't pay into the retirement stuff when they were supposed to, so now there's a big problem.. Compounding interest doesn't work if you don't put money in to compound. like SS. .. The state chose not to have SS so I am not eligible for it or medicare
I get PERS and it's so confusing. They have it broken down into groups. I'm in "C" group. We're so far down in priority we'll probably be happy if we get any retirement. Supposedly they can't touch it, but they keep making changes.

I want to hug her and fuzzy her little ears. :love

Look what I just set up. 25 guinea eggs. Yeah, I put it off more than I should have and some of the eggs are 2 weeks old, but they are all clear inside so why not try incubating them. I decided to get off my butt when my dad discovered a nest of about 15 eggs when he was weed whacking. View attachment 1768838
What is it w/ your bird and hiding eggs? Good luck w the hatch!

Yes I think he understands.

He is more worried about it all inconveniencing me with all the changes needing made.

Seriously, I signed on for the long haul. That means I am here to take care of everything I can. That includes him when he needs me to.
I really hope he understands that I ain't gonna desert him with serious medical issues.

I was glad to see lower numbers but they certainly aren't low enough for a sigh of relief.
They need to be less than half of this morning's number.

:hugs
prayers for you all :hugs

My guineas are now free ranging all the time. So they are making their own nests. The surprise chicks were because FIL thought my banties weren't laying and stopped checking and the hens went broody on the eggs. :)

well the 2nd cornish didn't zip more than a quarter of the way and stopped moving :hit
The 3rd egg is just sitting there :smack

So I debated about raising the 2 in a brooder but the moose is so active and jumping on the cornish. He needs some discipline and enrichment.. so I decided to see if the broody with one would take them. I put them in just before sunset... Content little trills :love and she is taking care of all 3 this morning

But the mama turkey was missing a poult this morning.. finally found it dead out of the coop about 20 ft away. The coop is 24 ft long and she was keeping them in the back part. It must have ran out out last night before lockup because it was soaked from the rains. I hadn't heard it peeping and didn't realize it was missing. :barnie:hit:oops:

That is a lot of Drama in the poultry yard!

I am not surprised about the Turkey. Polts often seem clueless at first

yes they have to learn things chickens know by instinct.
Lat year i set 24 eggs under broodies, between not hatching, dieing before 3 days and then before 8 wks.. I ended up with 11 by fall. Which was plenty for my needs.

I have 24 more under broodies so I figured I will be swamped with poults anyway... I just feel bad for him getting lost... usually the boys are more adventurous.
