Well at least you found something that flips his nice switch a spotty old banana.
Those eyes were going nuts so those are going to work for a long time too and the boy will get his potassium in the deal.
None of mine will touch bananas, iv'e tried even ate one in front of them but I haven't tried these last littles yet if one of those boys eats spotty bananas he's staying so I don't have to eat them. :D
Ah.. I was worried for a second that it was something wrong w our network, but everything else seemed to work so I assumed it was the site. Glad they were able to get it fixed quickly.

Wow, I wondered what happened when coops were on the ground... even barns seem like they'd get a lot of water inside during these conditions. Is it possible that putting some bricks around the outside of the coop where it's got the dirt floor would help at all? Hopefully the gravel helps, and if not.. you have grit! Do you maybe know someone or be able to rent a small backhoe when things dry up some get put in a french drain like 21 suggested? It's probably way to wet to have something of that size out there now, but it'd save your back.
Sorry to hear about the spitz. Is that one that had problems a while back?

Right? He was super nice to my daughter last night, he was probably waiting for a banana. Lucky for him I have several brown spotted bananas waiting for him.

That looks horrible. Any way you can work on building up the run over the summer? If it keeps happening, you could consider putting a floor in the coop and raising it up off the ground. I have my coop about a foot of the ground, it's on top of a hill so the water flows away from the coop and run down to a low spot in the yard.. I know you didn't have a choice about the location, but maybe you can change some things to make it work better by grading the soil, maybe putting a barrier on the front or back of the run to keep water from flowing straight in, and allow it to go around.. kind of like a ground gutter. Also did you put gutters on your roof? If not you could either add some and keep the rain from flooding the run, or put a tarp over that section for now and slant it so the water goes toward the low spot. I put a drain in my tarp of the back of the run and put it to a big pvc pipe so when it rains it doesn't fill up (made that mistake last winter w/ the snow).

Haven’t caught a rat but did catch a little possum yesterday.

Didn’t have the heart to kill him after DD came over and fed him cat treats all morning so we wound up taking him to a wildlife rehabber who was going to relocate him for us.
I’m such a pushover.

@Redhead Rae you are ALL BABY” in that new picture and he or she’s looks to be in a fine position to find the exit. My first three pregnancies ended with inductions.
Everyone told me it would be “awful” but since I didn’t know any better I had nothing to compare them too.

I still don’t think there was anything “so awful”about it and went natural all the way with all three, despite my doctors suggestion to have an epi. It just took a lot of concentration. You got this friend.

7 hr labor with the first(because I didn’t figure out how to REALLY push until the end of the game), and
5 hrs with each of the next two.

Fourth baby came on her own, started Labor in the middle of the night and delivered her by 5 am about 1/2 hr after arriving at the hospital and 2 minutes after the brand new doctor in the practice, who I’d never met, rolled in.

She was slugging coffee, reading my chart, and trying to get her hair into a ponytail when I told her that we could get to know each other later and that I needed to push that baby out immediately.

She did manage to get gloves on but nothing else.
Two pushes and one Tarzan yell and Hannah came into the world like the little firecracker that she still is!:gig

I’ll be praying for you to have as good an experience as I did with the induction and a beautiful, joyful outcome. :love
You are going to be a fantastic mom of two! :hugs

Nice possum! What is with the little tounge sticking out?
Ya'll were baby talking at it wern't you? Just feeding cat treats telling what a sweet possum wassum it is.:gig

Good job on the possum!

We have them here but they do not bother the birds

If I have to be induced, they will be doing it low and slow because of my previous c-section. Hopefully that will make it easier than getting the full dose right away.

Gutters would be helpful but I'm not sure how I could attach them. There is no fascia board along the edge of the roof. Just the open end of the rafters.

The yard has a slight slope in the direction of the coop but not even enough to have a ball roll on it's own.
The neighbors to the high side dug a pond a few years ago (I was told) but I wonder if it was because the water table in the back is so high.

The long grass in one section, I haven't even attempted to mow, is all laying directionly.... the way the water is pushing it.

Really this is 50 year flood levels of rain. We haven't had this wet of a spring in my memory. Not constant like this anyway.
I'd suggest putting a tarp over the run where the water runs off the roof it it can support it then, just angle the tarp so the water flows off and doesn't pool. I used 2x4's under the tarp to help direct it, but ended up putting in a drain b/c I didn't have the support to keep the water from pooling. The drain is basically this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/InSinkErat...astic-Garbage-Disposal-Discharge-Tube/1269327
I cut a hole in the tarp and attached pvc to get it to a large pvc tube. I can take pics tonight while I'm there. It works well, but I messed up... the drain is in the wrong spot and since I've already cut a hole I'd have to cut another hole & run them together to fix it... It's still a million times better than it was before though.

Power is out and I have brooders full of chicks and an incubator full of eggs. Hope it comes on soon!
I hope it's back on by now & everyone is ok.

Have you looked into making a french drain?

I feel like that '15 minutes' is a huge lie, but that's a great video.

LOL I'm surprised they won't eat them! I hate ripe bananas, I like them when they're a little green looking, kids will eat them when they're yellow, but if there's brown the chickens get them. They all LOVE bananas so I'll make sure he gets some when I put them out. Normally I just peel then toss on the ground & they're gone so fast he's never had any before.

Cute little possum! If they were always that cute they'd probably have a better reputation.

I think they meant it was a 15 minute video! The time lapse in it was cool to see
