I am up to 5 broody Australorp!

Tomorrow I switch who is in the breaker.

I cannot begin to guess how many I have broke already this year. Seems at least 3 a week. They just keep coming. Next week I'm breaking all my bantams. There's a bunch that are broody. I will block the nestboxes, and it will be like a hornets nest.

I have had 6 / 47 chickens and 6/5 turkeys (the first turkey went broody a month after her eggs hatched)
Only 13 chicks and 31 poults

Morning folks

I appreciate all the suggestions and thoughts but Jr seized in my arms and died. Made one final sad noise and that was it. I just pet him and told it was ok.

So 3 birds in 3 days...I’m done. No more losses. I just can’t take it.

Good morning! Haven't been awake long and already feel terrible. Went to pop the coop and apparently all the littles had relocated to the people door and slept there.
My door opens outward so derps fell out everywhere drowsy, very much round enough to roll derps.
I'm so glad I peed before I went out.

Big fat zero here! It won't last long it never does way too peaceful they can't have that.

Morning everyone.

All the broody butts have been kicked off nests and bugged enough they went outside.

Those Derps have awesome timing.
This morning Dip was zipping around screaming cause mom went outside and she didn't. Chaos the red cochin (neither giant or bantam in size) launched from the roost just as Dip ran that way. Yup she crashed directly into Dip. Yup that meant more screaming.
They are both fine by the way. Just nutty.
